My Gift Giving Philosophy
I guess I should preface this somewhat ‘bonus’ post by saying that I legitimately read every single comment that goes on this site. And while I can’t reply to the hundreds of comments that come up every week, I’m always around to answer your questions, AND I’m always paying to what’s being said, and by who.
One thing I noticed on my Sephora post? There is a serious amount of love out there for Philosophy, and I can’t say I blame you. I’ve been enamored with the brand for years, and said love extends throughout my family (yes, even my dad). If you’re unfamiliar, Philosophy is known for being the purveyor of all manner of treats for your body – lotions, fragrances, lip glosses, and their signature 3-in-1 bubble bath / body wash / shampoos are just scratching the surface. But what’s really notable? Their too-good-to-be-true scents, inspired by the most scrumptious baked goods, pristine tableaus of nature, and freshly picked fruit.
What’s ultra cool about Philosophy this year, and what ultimately earned them a spot on the Canadian Gift Guide this close to Christmas, is the fact they’ve seriously expanded their reach. Where before you could mostly only find the brand at Sephora, you can now pick up their charming gift sets and sincerely coveted products at Shoppers Drug Mart and The Bay – making this a fantastic gift idea you can *easily* snap up this weekend. So without further ado…my top 5 gift ideas from Philosophy!
Note: all prices are quoted in Canadian dollars, which may account for differences on the Philosophy site.
Why I love it: I adore make-up as much as the next girl, but I’m *equally* keen on finding that magic elixir that manages to scrub away every last granule of bronzer and blush while keeping my skin feeling fresh and light. Enter Purity Made Simple, Philosophy’s one-step facial cleanser that’s equally adept at cleaning off mascara as it is with giving your skin a clean, healthy glow.
Perfect for: Gift your girlfriend, sister, wife, Secret Santa or best friend with this sincerely wondrous gift and let them give it a whirl – I can nearly guarantee you’ll be buying the full-size bottle for them on your next gift-giving occasion. Consider hanging it on the tree come Christmas morning as a sweet way to surprise your giftee!
Available at: The Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart & Sephora
Why I love it: Sure it’s all holiday spirit and sparkly lights right now, but keep in mind we’ve got a few months to go to battle the harshest days of winter. Which makes these special holiday 3-in-1 potions a perfect pick to make your everyday shower into a serious slice of escapism. Waft in the ridiculously lush citrus tones in Glow and Behold or pretend you’re at a party year-round with the festive cocktail that inspires Sparkling Cranberry, and know you’re doing your hair and body good at the same time.
Who it’s for: Whatever person on your list doesn’t have plans to escape to a sunny destination.
Available at: Exclusively at The Bay (select stores)
Why I love it: It’s easy to look at this and think you’re getting two products, but really you’re getting four when you consider Senorita Margarita is actually a hardworking three-in-one shampoo / bubble bath / shower gel with a zesty lime scent that’ll wake up any party girl, no matter how many actual cocktails she’s recuperating from. Plus you can make sure she always looks (and tastes!) party-ready with the yummy Melon Daiquiri lip gloss also included in this fun set.
Who it’s for: Going to a holiday gathering this weekend? Staying over at a relative’s house this holiday season? Planning ahead for New Years? This is obviously an awesome, appropriate hostess gift – but it’s also a blast for the party gal in your midst.
Available at: The Bay and Sephora
Best Gift Set: Oh Twinkling Night – $20
Why I love it: Spread a little holiday cheer well past Christmas morning with this bargain of a gift set, featuring two holiday-themed 3-in-1′s. Channel unwrapping presents around the tree with the citrus-and-evergreen-infused Holiday Lights Aglow or picture sipping sparkling punch with friends and family when you use the shimmery Twinkle Berry.
Who it’s for: The price point makes this a supreme value for your friends, cousins, or as a completer piece for a bigger pressie.
Available at: Exclusively at The Bay (select stores)
Now friends. Here is why I was so willing to take time out of my busy gift-shopping-and-wrapping schedule to double up on posts today. Four INCREDIBLY lucky readers are going to walk away with one of these gift ideas each (so one person will win ‘Oh Twinkling Nights’, one will win ‘The Cocktail Party Gift Set’, etc.) While I’m always encouraging you to share the wealth, I sincerely wouldn’t blame you this time if you were hard-pressed to let go of any of these scrumptious-smelling goodies. Here’s how to enter:
1) Leave a comment below until January 3rd, 2012 and tell me which of these sensational gift ideas you’d most like to get (or win!) this holiday season.
2) Entries are limited to one per person per email address (or more if you score bonus entries). A random draw will be conducted on or around January 3rd, 2012 to select the winner, who will have 48 hours to respond before another winner is chosen in their place.
3) Entries are limited to residents of Canada that have reached the age of majority in their province / state. Quebec is not eligible to participate in this promotion.
4) Bonus Entry Time: Okay, remember what I said about spreading the wealth? If you can bear it, refer your friends to this post and get them to leave a comment, including your name as their referrer. You’ll earn a bonus entry into the draw for every person you refer (yup it’s unlimited!) and they’ll earn an entry themselves. And if THEY refer people, well, they’ll earn themselves bonus entries as well. For the record, I can see IP addresses – so no trying to fake ‘friends’ when doing your referrals.
