One of my favourite posts I did earlier this year was the pretty pastel-tinged ‘Signs of Spring‘. Because of that, I thought it was time to take a look at another bevy of seasonal items that make great all-occasion gifts. Think of it this way – those of us with winter birthdays are far more likely to be unpacking a cashmere sweater from their gift bags, just as those with summer birthdays will have strappy sandals or cute beach coverups on their wish list. Consider this list a guide for summer gift-giving!
Coola Sunscreen – $21+ @ Indigo
Ladies and gentlemen, if I could offer you one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. And kudos if you know what I’m referencing when I say that. Anyway sunscreen is so essential to summer living, but it may not feel like a very glam gift…until now. Coola sunscreens come in delicious aromas like Citrus Mimosa and Pina Colada, offer full protection from harmful rays, and have 97% certified organic ingredients. Because it’s part luxe beauty product and part practical, you can get away with this as a fab birthday offering.
Chevron Beach Towel – $12.99 @ Old Navy
Chevron has been a go-to print for designers over the last year, and here it’s used to colourful, high-impact effect in this soft, terrycloth towel. If you’re headed to a beach bash or being hosted by a family friend for a week at the lake, say thanks with spare towels for the whole family – at this price, you can afford it!
Sultra Hair Extensions – $22 each @ Sephora
These days extensions aren’t just about filling out your mane, but having fun while you’re doing it – as evidenced by these loud-and-proud extensions by Sultra that are exclusive to Sephora. Available in a dazzling array of shades like minty ocean teal and spotted tawny leopard print, extensions are a fun way to instantly update your look, without having to fuss around with chemicals and damaging products. Pick up a few for your little sister’s birthday, or hand them out as party favours for your bachelorette.
Ice Pop Molds – $12 for 6 @ Uncommon Goods
Forgo the ice cream truck and whip up your own blends of fruity, icy treats at home with these crazy cute popsicle molds. With sailboat, rocket, and robot handles these cheery snacks-on-a-stick will delight kids and impress your adult friends, especially if you come up with some unique concoctions of your own. Buy them for your sibling so they can serve up smiles for their own children all summer long.
Eternity Summer – $72 @ Department Stores
I read a recommendation once that you change your signature scent with the seasons – switching up strong springy florals with light airy citrus or orientals in the summer. If you’re feeling that, may I recommend the Summer 2012 incarnations of the classic Eternity fragrance by Calvin Klein. Loaded with exotic fruits and plants, both ladies and guys can get in on the act with these beautiful, ombre-glass bottles. For the gals, imagine wrapping yourself in African orange flower and Japanese pear martini, while guys, spice up your scent with living lush melon, juniper berry, and mimosa.
