Sugar & Spice

The weather outside may just be getting frightful, but the holiday-themed treats from wondrous body care company philosophy are absolutely delightful. It’s hard not to imagine a better treat from the harsh winter than a warm bath scented like gingerbread, or slathering on a crisp peppermint lotion to keep your skin taut and moisturized. With that in mind, I’m highlighting my five favourite finds from philosophy, just in time for Christmas gift-giving!

philosophy The Care PackageThe Care Package – $115 @ Sephora, The Bay & Shopper’s Drug Mart
One of the things philosophy is probably most celebrated for is their star performer skincare products. Around the holidays, they actually release some pretty amazing value sets so you can stock up on a year’s worth of goodies to nourish your face in particular. This quite literal care package contains six of their most popular products to help you build a multi-step skincare routine, including cleansers, moisturizers, scrubs, and a microdelivery peel and wash to keep your skin looking bright and youthful. It’s such a must-have for any lady on your list – consider splurging on it for mom!

philosophy The Gingerbread Man Hot Salt ScrubThe Gingerbread Man Hot Salt Scrub – $33 at The Bay and Sephora
If you’re looking for a warm tingly sensation after getting stuck in the cold, this exfoliating, self-heating scrub should definitely make your wish list. Use it in the shower or tub to buff out the dryest patches of your skin, all while inhaling a delicious, kitchen-worthy spicy ginger scent. The results? An ultra-smooth epidermis with a festive fragrance to boot. The sweet retro packaging makes this a choice pick for your sister or best friend – it’s the type of treat she’ll rarely splurge on for herself, but absolutely fawn over when she opens (and tries!) it.

philosophy Holiday Kisses Lip SetHoliday Kisses Set – $33 @ Sephora
The one area philosophy dabbles into the realm of cosmetics is with their ultra-shimmery, ultra-nourishing lip glosses in makes-your-mouth-water flavours and scents. Sephora is home to an exclusive collection of glosses inspired by four seasonally appropriate treats: red velvet cake, frosted cookie, bubbly, and candy cane. Each tube has its own finish – although all of them are quite sheer – to either add a kiss of colour, a pucker-worthy dapple of shine, or a clear, tingly gloss to finish off your party-ready look. Give it to your girlfriend or wife – she’ll thank you for keeping her lips smooth, and you’ll be thankful when you get to kiss off the gloss later.

philosophy Hope In A JarHope In A Jar Ornament – $15 @ Sephora
If you’ve ever used philosophy’s award-winning Hope In A Jar moisturizer, chances are you’re still probably using it. As one of the brand’s signature skincare products, this souffle-textured moisturizer is light enough for daily use. Believe it or not, it was originally developed for medical use, and has since worked wonders on countless millions of women around the globe. It works with virtually any skin type to keep it smooth and soft, and when packaged in this too-cute ornament box, makes a perfect holiday gift to introduce a friend to a fantastic product.

philosophy Living GraceLiving Grace Collection – $20 – $44 @ The Bay, Shopper’s Drug Mart, and Sephora
philosophy has had a pretty long winning streak with their line of ‘Grace’ perfumes. This newest incarnation is, like the others, a light, clean fragrance designed to lift you up instead of drown you in heady notes. Available in a spray fragrance, 3-in-1 shampoo, bath & shower gel, emulsifying body lotion, and a satin-finish oil mist (not shown), it’s easy to envelope you in this crisp scent evoking neroli, lily of the valley, and wintery musk. It may just be hitting the shelves now, but it’s a scent worthy of year-round wear.

So there you have it…my top five picks from philosophy’s mega-extensive collection of holiday goodies. For serious, visit the shops to inhale this stuff for yourself and check out the dozen or so other great gift ideas from the line. It’s universally loved by all of my ladies, in part because you know, it really works. Sephora is home to tons of exclusive products in particular, but you can also check out select The Bay and Shopper’s Drug Mart stores across the nation to snap up some goodies as well. Or you know, you could just enter my contest. You could win one of three philosophy prizes I’m giving away, including The Care Package, The Gingerbread Man Hot Salt Scrub, or the Hope in a Jar ornament! Here’s how to enter:

1) Leave a comment below by December 18th with your favourite gift idea from the philosophy holiday catalogue.

2) Entries are limited to one per person / per email address / per household (or more if you score bonus entries). A random draw will be conducted on or around December 19th to select the winner, who will have 48 hours to respond before another winner is chosen in their place.

  140. I’m a gingerbread kinda man. That item looks the most hot. In fact I just might be the only man on this comment thread. But it’s okay. I think I’m swayed by the fact that it’s kind of a ‘ginger-bread’ season. Perhaps I might weight in on the items featured in the summery and tropical section? Nay – this might not be part of the gift guide. In any event. Coconut lip frosting is a potential hit. But – what do I know. I’m more about the flashy name. I had to dip back to the guide in search of gifts for him. Say what? Fresh and Frosty section. I gotta say – it says it’s for men but I think I’d still opt to use my ‘Candy Cane Salt Scrub’ in secret. I’m out!

  141. Marlene J says:
