Now Hear This

Now Hear ThisWhat It Is: AfterShokz headphones stand alone for one very unique reason – they don’t actually go in your ears. The idea? Many folks are concerned not only about the damage earbuds can do to our listening, but also about not being open to and aware of ambient noise – particularly important if you’re jamming out while taking a jog, cycling to work, going on a hike, or even just mowing the lawn. These technologically advanced headphones transmit micro-vibrations through your cheekbones and right into your ears, providing a surprisingly amazing listening experience that doesn’t compromise your awareness of the world around you.

Who It’s For: Your running buddy, as an extra motivation to get up and get moving. Your kid, so they commute to work or school safely. Your audiophile friend, who needs a different set of headphones for every task in their life.

What It Costs: US$39.95. They do ship to Canada but I couldn’t figure out for exactly how much.

Where It’s At: The AfterShokz website has the best price – I found a few more regional sources but their prices varied wildly.

Bonus entry into my new Coleman giveaway – tell me in the comments below, would you invest in these safer, smarter headphones?

It sounds like a great idea. I know my son had purchased a pair of these with same idea and I am not sure of brand and he actually ended up returning them as he said you really could not hear it that well.

I think this is a good idea. I usually try to not wear ear buds when I am out in a noisy place.

I absolutely would! Nothing is worse than fussing over my earbuds while running.

    I would.

I have a pair of these headphones. Much safer as I run on a country road where traffic has little room to go around you.

  13. cookie3 says:

I sure would especially since I already wear hearing aids & have no room for headphones.
