True Colours

Beautycounter Colour Cosmetics

What It Is: Get ready to get even more gorgeous – Beautycounter, which debuted in Canada earlier this spring with some of their bestselling skincare favourites – has now expanded their lineup to include some of their awesome cosmetics. If you haven’t caught my earlier posts on the brand, a quick recap: this is one of the most stringent beauty companies in the world, banning over 1,500 unsafe ingredients to create effective, better for you products.

Their beauty products follow the lead of their skincare – free from harmful chemicals, irritants, and hormone disruptors to create a collection you can feel good about using! From concealers and foundation to cream and powder blush to all sorts of products for the lips and eyes, plus a handy lineup of removers and blushes, there’s something for everyone! I got to trial run three products from their cosmetics line – a blush, two eyeliners, and the concealer. The blush had stunning levels of pigmentation, which you can’t say for other ‘safe’ (or natural) brands per se. The concealer also had amazing levels of coverage and was super easy to apply – it reminded me of a bit of YSL’s infamous Touch Eclat. I was a little less enamoured with the eyeliner as it took quite a few swipes / warming it up in my fingers to get pigmentation, but I also noticed it’s not on the site just yet, so perhaps they’re retooling that product. Regardless, my little sampling made me eager to try more!

Who It’s For: Your cosmetician friend, to show her safe beauty is just plain beautiful. Your daughter, to introduce her to quality makeup and instill good habits. Your bridesmaids – their cream blusher also makes for an ace lip gloss in a pinch.

What It Costs: Most items hover around the $40 mark.

Where It’s At: Order online at Beautycounter.ca

I had one similar from MAC that they stopped making. I find it helps to have two shades to naturally blend.
