What’s In His Stocking?
Now that we’ve tackled what she wants in her stocking, let’s move onto the guys. Rather unfairly, it seems that guys always get amazing stockings, given ladies are generally more in tune with gift giving. However by the same token, a lot of ladies I speak to have also told me they’re stumped about what to bestow upon their favourite man. So with that, I’ve picked out 10 cool ideas that’ll easily fill his stocking to the brim.
Maple Syrup Candle Tin – $16.99 @ The Great Canadian Gift Company
Guys typically aren’t the candle-lighting type, but I suspect they’ll make an exception once they inhale this heavenly natural scent. Plus it comes in a cool retro tin that feels just this side of manly to convince him it’s not a girly thing to do.
Badger Sore Muscle Rub – $7.29 @ Well.ca
Creaky joints after shoveling snow or sore post-workout muscles: whatever the case may be, this all-natural organic balm uses the stimulating power of ginger and cayenne pepper (very Orange is the New Black no?) to soothe those aches & pains away.
Chuao Chocolatier Bars – $7.95 each @ Indigo (note: only select flavours available)
With unxpected manly flavours like Maple Bacon and Potato Chip plus all-natural goodness, this is a sweet treat even the most diehard gym-goer won’t be able to resist.
Stainless Steel Flask Funnel – $7.95 @ Amazon.ca
If he enjoys his spirits whilst on the ski hill or during games of shinny, make pouring them a snap with this simple stainless steel funnel designed to fit in the mouth of just about any flask. Bonus points for including a mini bottle of liquor as well.
Old Spice Swagger Collection – ~ $4.99 each @ Drugstores & Mass Market Retailers Nationwide
The latest scent in Old Spice’s line-up of debonair yet gruff-and-tumble collection is ‘Swagger’, a sporty fragrance that’ll appeal to pretty much any dude. And swagger is what he’ll have, given the brand’s promise of 8 hours of lasting freshness. Go on, give him a nuzzle after his next shower. You’ll see what I mean.
Armor All Tech and Screen Wipes – $4.99 @ Canadian Tire
Did he just unwrap a new iPad or GPS or some other gizmo this holiday season? Make sure everyone’s grubby fingerprints are kept off the pristine surface with these versatile wipes from a brand he’ll already know and trust.
Kikkerland Camping Utensils – $12 @ Red Arrow Workshop
If he’s a outdoorsman, lighten his load on his next camping excursion with this clever trio of stainless steel utensils. They actually all nest within a slim steel case, ensuring you won’t lose any precious cutlery while on the trails.
T-Bone Steak Noteblock – $10.95 @ Room 2046
If he’s a BBQ fiend when it’s warmer out, this quirky steak-shaped notepad will charm him. Bring it to the office or leave it on the front hall table so you can jot down notes (love or otherwise) for him in the morning.
Hockey Night in Canada Frosty Mug – $15.99 @ CBC Shop
If he enjoys knocking back a pint while cheering on this favourite team, this ice-inspired mug should definitely be in his hands. As you’ve probably guessed, it’s one of those mugs designed to be kept in the freezer until you’re ready to watch a game, keeping your drink cold well into the third period.
Arborist Patterned Socks – $12 each @ Drake General Store
Make his ‘dress socks’ fun socks too with a pair of these festive, slightly Canadiana-inspired socks. From a red hockey print to bold checks, there are six styles in all to choose from.
