Find of the Month: Yarok

I am SO EXCITED to bring you September’s Find of the Month. Why you ask? A few years ago I switched to primarily natural hair care products – but I’d always had challenges finding a full suite of products that really compared to the chemical varieties I was used to. That is, until I met Yarok.

Yarok Product CollectionCreated by Israeli hair guru Mordechai Alvow, Yarok is an incredible natural hair care brand that uses primarily certified organic ingredients, and is free of alcohol, paraben, and sulfates. They’re also committed to being cruelty-free (in fact their only ‘animal’ test subjects are willing humans) and eco-friendly, with non-paper labels, recyclable containers, and a portion of profits going to an organization that helps protects rainforests. This is all good. Great, in fact. But I bet the one question dangling at the back of your mind is…do they work?

Yarok Feed Your ShineThe answer? A resounding yes. In fact, Yarok is the only brand I’ve used – natural or otherwise – that has helped me capture salon-quality results at home. My hair was shinier and sleeker than I’d ever been able to master using any other combination of products. That my friends, speaks for itself. My favourite product of the bunch and I think the one that was most responsible for my successful glossy locks was Feed Your Shine ($34 for a bottle in Canada – but it’ll last forever!) Just a few drops of this potent blend of oils isn’t greasy, and doesn’t cause gritty build-up the way that some silicon-based products do. Instead you just get gloriously glimmering hair!

Yarok Hair MasksThat being said, I don’t want to discount the brilliance of the entire line and how well it works together. While many of the natural hair brands I use stop at shampoo and conditioner (more on those in a bit), Yarok has a complete line for virtually every hair consideration – including scalp health. Their Feed Your Sunshine and Feed Your Youth hair masks help restore your hair’s luster. Feed Your Sunshine ($34) is great for swimmers / those who spend lots of time outdoors, while Feed Your Youth ($37) uses Avocado and Yarrow Oil to restore your scalp health and help lock those follicles in place. All you have to do is apply the serum for 20 minutes, then rinse it out!

Yarok Shampoo and ConditionerAfter you’re done scrubbing out the serum of your choice, move onto the shampoo and conditioner. With a rich, earthy smell, the brand currently has two lines – Feed Your Moisture and Feed Your Volume ($42-$49). The names of the products are pretty self-explanatory, but I can tell you that they have a great texture that easily coats your hair, even if it doesn’t suds up tons (thanks to being free from SLS, a potentially harmful foaming agent).

Yarok Hair ProductsWhere Yarok really shines for me is the fact they also have a full line of natural styling products – a rare find. What’s great is all of the products in their styling collection work just as well as ‘regular’ products, but with a twist. Their Feed Your Hold hairspray ($34) for example, offers medium hold that still allows your hair to move and doesn’t give you helmet head. Their Feed Your Roots Mousse ($32) – possibly my second-favourite product of the bunch – is easy to apply and way less intimidating than regular mousse, offering the perfect amount of lift at the roots. I could go on (the brand also carries a styling cream and a heat protectant, both of which are awesome, as well as products for curly hair) but you get the picture: Yarok Rocks.

Yarok Sampler SetsWant more convincing? Yarok carries a few sampler sets so you can try out some of their products before buying the full sizes. My only warning? Once you go Yarok, you’ll find it hard to go back. I know I am.

Yarok Feed Your Do

If you’ve clicked any of the links on this post, you’ll notice that about half of them go to Clementine Fields, a Canadian natural beauty boutique that carries Yarok products! If you want to test out any products, just click on them – Clementine Fields offers samples on virtually every product they carry so you can make sure it’s totally right for you.

Finally, I’m jazzed to announce that one lucky winner will get to choose between 1 of 2 Yarok prize packages, depending on their hair type – one for curly-haired lasses and one for those who love to style their locks. Both are worth over $150 USD! Want to win? Here’s how to enter:

1) First & foremost: you must be a subscriber to the Canadian Gift Guide to enter this giveaway. It’s as simple as finding ‘The Gift of Gab’ box in the righthand column and dropping in your email or clicking follow. Then leave me a comment below by September 30, 2015 telling me what product you’re most interested in from Yarok.

2) Entries are limited to one per person / per email address / per household (or more if you score bonus entries). A random draw will be conducted on or around October 1, 2015 to select the winner, who will have 48 hours to respond before another winner is chosen in their place.

3) Entries are limited to Canadians that have reached the age of majority in their province. Quebec is not eligible for this promotion.

4) Bonus Entry: Follow Yarok on each of their social accounts. Then leave a comment on their FB wall, tag them in a Tweet on Twitter, and / or Regram one of their photos (and post one from their site). Share your activities in three separate comments below. Boom, you’ve earned three extra entries into the draw. It’s totally cool to do all or two or just one of these bonus entries!
