10 for $10: Healthy New Year Edition

It’s the tenth of the month which means it’s time to pick ten more gift ideas for a tenner or less. This month I thought it might be fun to highlight items related to health & wellness, to show that fitness doesn’t need to come with the price of a costly gym membership. As always, shipping is not factored into these prices. Happy perusing!

Twist Reaction Ball

Twist Reaction Ball – $8.99 @ Sport Chek
What does this weirdly-shaped ball do you ask? The six protrusions cause it to bounce in really unpredictable ways, requiring your reflexes to uptick as you leap, skip, and twist to grab it after tossing against walls or floors – or with a friend. A fun training device for tennis and basketball players, or other similar athletic types looking to up their agility.

 Adidas Water Bottles

Classic Water Bottles – $6.99 each @ adidas.ca
Because nothing is more important when you’re working out than hydration. These slightly sparkly, BPA-free water bottles are the perfect mid-size to take to the track, the gym, or on a short outdoor excursion.

Relax Effectively Manage Stress Bok

Relax: Effectively Manage Stress by Sherry Torkos – $5.95 @ Indigo
Wellness isn’t just about how much iron you can curl at the gym – it’s about taking care of your upstairs as well. This book written by a holistic pharmacist explores ways to relax outside of prescription sedatives and tranquilizers. A must-have for someone going through a particularly stressful time.

Filzer Zaadaa Yoga Block

Filzer Zaadaa Yoga Block – $8 – $8.75 @ MEC
I’m of the school of thought that technically all you need for yoga is a soft space to work out – maybe a mat – and some stretchy clothes, but even I’ll admit that sometimes you’ll want to fork out the cash for a few accoutrements. Namely, a yoga block makes it easier for less flexible types (like me!) to hold poses that challenge your balance and stretching abilities. These Filzer blocks are not only affordably priced, they come in two sizes depending on your needs and skill.

The Simply Bar

The Simply Bar – ~$2.99 each @ Health, Grocery & Bulk Stores Nationwide
Looking to bulk up while staying slim & trim? The Simply Bar is a Canadian product that delivers the most protein for the least amount of calories – and it’s free from scary chemical ingredients too. Bonus, it’s also suitable for all types of dietary restrictions like vegans and gluten-free. Oh, and it doesn’t taste half-bad.

Manduka Mat Spray

Manduka MAT WASH – $7.57+ each @ Amazon.ca
Bare sweaty feet are rarely a tantalizing proposition, but for regular yoga practitioners they’re a reality. Keep your mat clean with one of these disinfecting aromatherapy sprays to create a zing before your next workout.

Sampras Tennis Trainer

Sampras Tennis Trainer – $9.99 @ Sporting Life
Make like Serena Williams or for that matter, Pete Sampras, with this unique beginner tennis trainer. The ball is attached to a weighted base by an elastic, allowing it to spring back to you after every wallop.

Wholesome Organic Blue Agave

Wholesome Organic Sweeteners – $6.99 @ Well.ca
There’s a lot of talk out there right now about lowering your ‘GI’ – something which is accomplished in part by choosing alternative sweeteners like Agave nectar. These three organic blends are infused with the sweet tastes of maple, cinnamon, and strawberry and are extremely versatile – pour them over pancakes, use them in recipes, drizzle them on ice cream, or even mix them into your morning beverages.
Everlast Twist Board Pilates

Everlast Twist Board – $9.97 @ Sears
Shake, rattle & roll your hips using this way-cool at-home Pilates board. Simply use your calves, thighs, and abs to help your body stay balanced and watch as your figure slims & tones.

Sissel Press Egg

Sissel Press Egg – $9.95 each @ Fitter First
Part stress-relief, part forearm and hand strengthener. These gel-filled eggs come in four different strengths – a simple squeeze is all it takes to get the blood flowing and muscles working. Great if you work in an office environment or some other scenario where your hands cramp up.

Yay for bettering yourself! And on that note, how about another bonus entry into my Rodial giveaway? Just tell me your favourite 10 for $10 find this month in the comments below.
