Talkin’ Bout My Girl
You know, I always feel weird writing about Valentine’s gifts before February has officially hit – but the reality is, if I only write about gift ideas on the day (or the week leading up to) when they happen you’d probably be more than a little ticked off with me. That’s why I start coming up with Valentine’s ideas in December, and posting them in January, to give you plenty of time to pick your favourites, track ’em down, and have them ready & wrapped for gifting on the big day. This year I’ve picked out five fantastic Valentine’s gifts, all of which fall into the typical of realm of gifts for your one true love – but often with a special twist.
Grand Heart Box of Chocolates – $46 @ Indigo
It really doesn’t get much more traditional than a box of heart-shaped chocolates on Valentine’s Day. But wait, before you get too easily distracted, recognize that these are so not your dime store box of waxy, mass-produced bites. In fact, these sweets for your sweet are crafted by Vermont’s Lake Champlain Chocolates, with luxury ingredients and both milk and dark chocolate finishes. Fair warning, this particularly pre-wrapped present may cause some tension between you and your spouse – after all, you’ll be hard-pressed to give up even a single bite of these heavenly truffles and chocolates.

I could probably write an essay on how awesome Objects With Purpose is. While their candles may seem simply lovely at first sight (and smell), and perfect for creating a romantic atmosphere for you & yours, it’s the little secret within that makes me really love this brand. Namely, the fact that each non-toxic candle is meant to be worn. When hot & flickering, the melted wax (infused with coconut, apricot, and shea butters as well as essential oils) can be used as a body butter for intimate massages or to nourish your skin after a candlelit dip in the tub. When cool & solid, simply use your fingers to collect the scent and wear it as a perfume. I’m not sure whether to love or loathe La Vie En Rose at the moment. I say love because they offer a huge range of sexy-yet-sweet lingerie and lounge options to get his heart racing this Valentine’s Day…but I also say loathe because there might just be one too many options for me to narrow it down for your (or let’s be realistic, my own) wish list. I handpicked the three ideas above because I adore the idea of being able to show a little or a lot of skin, depending on your lifestyle and your personal comfort level. If you want to thrill him simply by getting dressed in the morning, the lilac-and-peach Roses Push-Up Bra ($39.95) and matching Brazilian Panty ($19.95) is a promising hint of what’s to come at night. Bath products are always a huge seller during the Valentine’s season – I don’t know if it’s because the promise of a steamy shower together is too fun to resist, or if it’s simply way to give back to the lady that gives you her all with a sweet pampering treat.
