Despite my best intentions (and yours, I’ll bet) over the last few weeks, I’m guessing it’s only now that alarm bells are ringing: Valentines’s Day is t-minus three days away people. With that in mind, I’ve scoured the shelves both digital & real to track down a fantastic collection of affordable gift ideas for gals in particular that’ll save the day and sweeten your relationship in the final push to Cupid’s favourite holiday. Onwards!
The Chocolate Box – $29.50 @ DAVIDsTEA
How’s this for a fun spin on a ‘box of chocolates’? DAVIDsTEA has packaged up six of their sinfully delicious yet virtually calorie-free chocolate-infused teas for a delectable, drinkable Valentine’s treat. Guys. Let me make this stupidly simple for you. If you have zero point zero idea what to get your fair lady, zip down to your local Sephora and snap up this ridiculously cute and universally flattering palette. She’ll swoon for the heart-shaped box containing three shimmery candy-coated blushes, and beyond that, be totally blown away that you knew exactly what to get her without even asking (or knowing) about it. Thank me later!
WILD & WOLF Rob Ryan Four Seasons Plate – $46 @ The Bay
How’s this for a sweet idea? In lieu of chocolates, buy her a cake from her favourite bakery and serve it up on these quaint papercut-inspired plates from British artist Rob Ryan. Each plate has a unique design and sweet little message, including my personal favourite: “Moons circle planets, and planets circle stars. Stars and entire galaxies rotate eternally and you and I circle each other, for you are my universe, and I will be yours” I’m getting misty just thinking about it…
Maybelline Color Whisper – $9.99 @ Drugstores & Mass Retailers
A new lipstick is a fast fix for any waning romance – she’ll instantly feel sexy (and have smoother lips to boot), you’ll instantly get turned on by her confidence. With that in mind, consider picking up one of these hint-of-colour lipshades from Maybelline. Neutral navy works with any outfit for a chic, polished look, while the eye-popping electric blue accents update the classic trench for the modern woman.
Coach Love Perfume – $52 – $72
Whoever said you can’t buy love was clearly lying! At least, that’s what Coach would have you believe with the debut of their new fragrance, Love. A mix of sugary sweet caramel and vanilla is tempered by guy-friendly musk and a sparkling bouquet of fruity notes. Did I just describe an amazing-sounding dessert or a beautiful, light perfume? I’ll let you be the judge.
VS Logo Lace Halter Babydoll – $29.50
If you’re going to do sexy lingerie boys, this is is how you do it. This halter babydoll is a mix of flirty – dig that lace! rock those bold colours! – and frisky – deep plunge v-neck anyone? i gotta say, I love all the ideas!! I’d be happy if hubby surprised me with any of them but I think the Cake Beauty Sweethearts goodies would have to be my fav! Cake products always smell so yummy!
