Lust List
November isn’t just the gear-up to the holidays, it’s also my birth month. For the record, being born in November is pretty awesome because you get two back-to-back months of gifts, plus the stores are brimming with covetable items. Also, anything I don’t get for my birthday, I still have the chance to get for Christmas. While this year I actually got most of my presents in advance of my birthday through a strange series of events, I still have plenty of other ‘wish list’ items to check off. Admittedly this is truly a LUST list, if you will – some of which are pretty luxurious options that I wouldn’t necessarily expect anyone but myself to buy for myself. That’s not to say I wouldn’t be bursting with happiness if one of these items ended up under my tree. Still, after browsing this post, maybe you’ll find an item or two to add to your OWN ultimate lust list.
Nora Zodiac Wool Scarf – $89.50 @ Club Monaco
I spotted this scarf on a recent shopping trip and instantly fell in love. As regular readers know, I have a particular adoration for all things astronomy (and to a lesser degree, astrology). This star formation scarf is not only eye-catching, it’s also uber soft and truly unique. It’s priced right that if you had a sibling or a parent that had a particular eye for the cosmos, they might also flip for this pretty piece.
Marc Jacobs The Showstopper Gift Set – $107 @ Sephora
After the wildly successful debut of Marc Jacobs’ debut collection this past year, I’ve been eagerly awaiting my opportunity to get my paws on some of the brand’s pricy, pretty items. Truth be told this little set might just be a perfect intro – it includes seven different pieces to give you a taste of the line’s high-quality finishes, from a bold red lip gloss to a sweet roll-on perfume in Marc Jacobs’ latest scent, Honey. If your sister or wife is a big beauty fan and hasn’t had her chance to try out Marc Jacobs just yet, this gift is a total shoo-in.
Foldable Ballet Flats in ‘Starstruck’ – $265 @ Tieks
One thing pretty much everyone knows about me: I love sparkle (as you’ll see in this post too). These Italian leather foldable flats caught my eye for a number of reason. For one, they fold. I travel a lot, and having portable shoes to tote along is a must-have. Two, they’re apparently insanely comfortable yet durable, with a non-skid sole (a must-have for a clutz like myself). Three, did I mention I like sparkle? The multi-hued cosmic glitter of these beauties is making my heart go pitter patter.
T3 Bodywaver – $175 @ Murale
If you want big, Nashville-sized loose waves, it starts with the tools you use. The T3 Bodywaver has a mega-sized 1.75″ barrel (whereas your average iron is a mere 1″) to give you that perfect undone look – channeling a day spent at the beach without the crazy salt water and sea air damage. Thanks to the iron’s unique barrel design, it promises that you’ll only ever need to pass it over your locks once for a perfect finish every time – plus less heat damage thanks to an even heating core. Long-haired ladies looking for easy, effortless hair should add this to their list.
Hughes Satchel – $348 @ J Crew
There is a lot to love with this unique leather satchel (price tag aside). When viewed from the side, you actually get a better feel for its slightly bulbous shape, which was not only inspired by origami, but actually produced using a similar technique for a unique, side panel finish. Available in four shades plus an additional suede option in blue, it may be pricy but it’s also the perfect mix of timeless and modernism. If your wife is in search of a new purse, point her in the direction of this one – it’s a killer gift.
Faith Connexion Metallic Coated Tunic – $322 @ ShopBop
I know I said it, but it bears repeating: I love sparkle. I’m like a freaking magpie. Anyway coated denim has been making waves over the last year – it basically gives your jeans a sort of waxy sheen to varying degrees; from painted-on metallics to a subtle shimmer. I was instantly hooked upon seeing it applied to this casual sweatshirt take – it looks like liquid gold and makes a statement while still allowing you to be crazy comfortable. Showy gold not your thing? It also comes in a more neutral but no less dazzling metallic black.
Sky Pave Necklace – $185 each @ Banana Republic
I have had this necklace (in silver) draped around my neck and it is absolutely spectacular – it’s no wonder I keep on seeing it styled in BR’s mannequin displays and print advertising. Heavy chains are having quite the moment right now, and this glittering take on them is a knockout with both your favourite party dress and your classic suit. It even dresses up an everyday sweater for a touch of glam when you need it most. If the price tag is a bit steep for you: no worries. Banana Republic typically runs a pretty good sale on Black Friday so keep your eyes peeled.
Fresh Sugar Treasures Mini Lip Collection – $58 @ Sephora
Cult brand Fresh is perhaps most beloved for their line-up of insanely nourishing lip balms. Their lip sugars come in both tinted and untinted shades, the former of which can be layered for a more pigmented, lipstick-like look (although really, they’re pretty sheer). Beyond that, they also provide SPF protection and help heal cracked or dry lips. This awesome gift set features seven different balms for you to either lavish yourself with or split amongst friends for a perfect, mistletoe-worthy pucker all winter long.
Ombre Wool Moto Jacket – $128 @ Gap
There are a lot of unexpected things about this chic wool jacket from Gap, least of all the fact that it’s from the Gap. Something about it feels way more high-end than what you’d typically get from a mass brand. The mod colour scheme, the scattered ombre effect, and the cropped moto style are all totally on point, yet this coat never veers into the territory of fashion victim or trendoid. I particularly love it for winter as the top half looks like you’ve been dusted with a fine layer of snow (or frosting sugar) – a perfect pick to throw on when running errands or going on a shopping trip for more holiday loot.
Michael Kors Watches – $225 – $550 (go online for stores)
You know with Sochi just a few months away, I’ve got gold, silver & bronze (or rose gold, as it were) on the mind. My mom and I were fondling some pretty Michael Kors timepieces awhile back and these are totally worthy of being perched on any woman’s wrist (including my own). I particularly like that he offers three levels of bling – just the rim, the strap and the rim, or the entire thing.
