Knock On Wood

On Our TableWhat It Is: A series of kitchen accoutrements handcrafted from real, sturdy, ethically harvested American black walnut. Repurposed into breathtakingly simple cutting boards, butchers blocks, serving trays, trivets, storage containers and more, these stunning pieces are an elegant yet practical choice to chop, display, serve and store with. A personal fave pick of mine is the lovely Culina Block (pictured top right); the type of piece that will last a lifetime – and then some. Did I mention all of these gorgeous gifts are made right here in Canada? Yuppers!

Who It’s For: The happy couple, as a treasured wedding gift. Your spouse, as a traditional five-year anniversary gift for ‘wood’. Your parents, as a thoughtful upgrade to their cheap plastic cutting boards.

What It Costs: Obviously the pieces vary in price. A lot of the pieces are in the $140 – $150 range, although a few are available for under $100 and a few are priced at over $200.

Where It’s At: Canadian brand OnOurTable sells their wares online, but they’re also pretty extensively available across Canada (Check their list of stockists for details).
