What It Is: Veronica Roth’s bestselling YA series Divergent finally hit the big screen last weekend – opening to middling reviews and decent box office numbers. As I’ve noted several times over the years in profiling the series, there as a LOT of hype going into the film franchise (a sequel has already been greenlit) – including ancillary merchandise. ‘Divergent Cosmetics’ popped up in Sephora stores over the last couple of weeks, consisting of three gift sets that use colours inspired by the film’s dystopian palette. The mega set on the left is currently sold out online but may be found in stores, but you can also indulge in the taupe-y travel palette or nail art kit before they’re snapped up by diehard tweens and teens.
Who It’s For: Your daughter or niece that’s a huge Divergent fan (the colours aren’t that pigmented, so she can have fun playing around). Your sister that liked the books and loves cosmetics. The girlfriend you snuck into the movies with on opening weekend, despite the fact you’re well past the typical reading age of the novels.
What It Costs: The big kit is $71, the travel palette is $39, and the nail art kit is $31.
Where It’s At: Exclusively at Sephora stores and online.
Speaking of books, how about a bonus entry into my Frog Music giveaway that launched yesterday? Leave a comment below – are you familiar with Divergent (the movie or books)? Thoughts on the series + this fun tie-in?
Only slightly familiar with Divergent movie – looks interesting and plan to see it soon.
I just finished reading the first book of the Divergent series and really enjoyed it! I’m now starting the second book and I plan to see the movie very soon. I’m hoping it’s very similar to the book since it was so entertaining!
I know nothing about Divergent, either the movie or the books. I must believing under a rock!
I keep seeing ads for the book and now the movie. I must check it out! I love the colours in the makeup sets, they would look good on anyone
I’ve seen a lot of hype for these books, but haven’t read them yet.
I am definitely not a teen but I absolutely loved the book series. I’m seeing the movie tomorrow!
I have the books but haven’t read them yet, myBF lent them to me and she really enjoyed them, and we tend to read the same things so I am sure I well like them
I’ve read the first book so far. It wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read, but it was fun.
I haven’t read any of the books but I have heard a lot of buzz about it in the staff room.
Not at all familiar with Divergent, however the nail art kit is awesome & would make a super gift
Bonus Frog Music entry: I’m not familiar with Divergent (the movie or books) & I’m not sure if this is a good tie-in to the movie since tweens & teens should embrace their natural beauty, not cover it up with makeup.
