Find of the Month: Lazypants
I don’t know about you, but when I get home at the end of a work day, the first thing I do is cast off my work clothes and slip into something a LOT more comfortable. Loungewear has become a huge subset of the fashion industry – with the caveat that we want to feel fabulously comfortable, not frumpy and dumpy. As a result of this cultural shift, a number of premium loungewear brands have popped up, including this month’s big find: Lazypants.
This Canadian brand may be young (it began in 2012) but it’s certainly had an impressive run so far. Dreamed up by Toronto resident Adam Bledin (who first envisioned the brand concept during a high school gym class), the line’s primary focus is uber cozy sweatpants (starting at $78 a pop) that also pack a stylish punch. Available in a huge range of colours, cuts and patterns, these snuggly loungepants are perfect for either kicking back around the house, going on quick jaunts to the neighbourhood, traveling around the globe, or even wearing to a lazy brunch with friends.
Lazypants was initially only sold in trendy Toronto boutique TNT, but in two short years, they’ve expanded nationally with a presence in stores like Sporting Life and Honey. They’ve also begun winning over audiences abroad, with a strong showing in Kitson stores in the U.S., and burgeoning presence via retailers in Nevada, New York, Germany, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Lazypants is also just in the process of relaunching an amazing new website to make it a snap for loungewear lovers to browse the entire line and snap up some new snuggly gear.
Along with that new website comes a new line. For Spring / Summer 2014, Lazypants is focusing on what it does best: pants. The Made in Canada collection includes 27 pairs of Three Thread Originals, 22 French Fleece pairs (my fave!), and 2 Herringbone pants – with colours ranging from classic neutrals to sunny brights. Although you may not traditionally associate the sunnier months with sweatpants, consider throwing on a pair over your swimsuit bottoms for a cute, relaxed look, or curl up in a pair during those inevitable rainy days for instant coziness.
It’s also worth noting that Lazypants isn’t just for adults. The brand also carries a line of kid-friendly clothing, aptly titled Lazykids. As part of the S/S 14 launch, the little ones in your life can indulge in one of ten pairs of pants or six tops that are perfect for rough and tumble playtime and sweet dreaming naptime alike.
The easiest place to snap up a pair of Lazypants for yourself is their website, which as I mentioned, is just relaunching this month. You’ll be able to peruse the full line, learn a bit more about the brand, and shop to your heart’s content. Plus you can check out their list of in-store retailers. In terms of gift-giving, I know a lot of guys out there that are accustomed to gifting their wives and girlfriends with loungewear from other popular brands – Lazypants is worth adding to that shopping list as they’re easy to fit and easy to fall in love with. Beyond that, how about your mom for Mother’s Day? Or your niece or nephew for their birthday? Or your bridesmaids so you can chill out in style while getting ready on the big day? These are all fabulous options – but don’t be surprised after donning a pair if you don’t just go and buy a few more for yourself.

4) Bonus Entries: I’ve got not one, but three ways for you to earn bonus entries. Simply follow each of the social media accounts, and interact with them (i.e. Tag Lazypants in a Tweet, leave a comment on their Facebook wall, like one of their Instagram photos).
