Mother’s Day is under two weeks away, and while I intend for many of my gift ideas for the next little while to be well-suited to mom’s everywhere, I thought it might be nice to do a little round up of ideas to formally kick things off. All of these ideas are designed with treating mom in mind. Whether she’s kicking back with a book or curling up with a cup of tea, prepare to exhale and relax as you indulge in these presents.
Whether you’re shopping for the mother of your children, your own mom, or your mother-in-law, I dare you not to love these presents.
Listen to the Squawking Chicken by Elaine Lui – $27.95
This insightful and hilarious memoir is written by a Canadian, Elaine Lui, who is best known for her celeb blog Lainey Gossip (as well as a stint doing entertainment news on TV). Now Lui can add author to the list, as she documents her mother’s rather extreme parenting choices that are also kind of inarguably accurate time and again. From the importance of good feng shui to the non-importance of beauty to finding an acceptable man, Lui relives her most mortifying childhood experiences with a sense of sharp perspective, recognizing that for better or worse, mom really does seem to know best. A must-have for any fans of Lui’s blog, but also a clever tongue-in-cheek book for your mother-in-law or daughter.
Lee by Lee Angel Necklaces – $55+ @ Nordstrom
If mom has ever wistfully sighed at a perfectly accessorized TV mom yet feared the concept of pulling off a statement necklace – I’ve got the gift for you. This easy peasy neck adornments are specifically designed for layering, yet they can also be worn individually for when mom’s in less of a LOOK AT ME frame of mind. Rendered in striking brights like pink, coral, blue, turquoise, and green, they’re also available in a more neutral cream collection offset mom’s favourite spring blouse or dress. Although virtually any of the organic cotton PJs on the Skin Worldwide website would be a cozy add to mom’s sleep wardrobe, I gravitated toward this simple yet kinda sexy caftan for a few reasons. For one, it’s sort of like a chic snuggie, and since this post is all about mom unwinding, what more could she ask for? For another, it’s also a fab multi-tasker. Mom can wear it when she’s under the weather, throw it on over her sleepwear for a more brunch-appropriate ensemble with the kids, plus she can even tote it along to the beach for when she wants a break from the rays. And in sunny, universally flattering turquoise blue, how can you go wrong?

I mean, of course the spa is lovely and all, but who’s to say you can’t create a blissful retreat within your own bathroom? I’d love to get the Breville Tea Maker for my mom so that I can get them drinking other kinds of tea rather than just black tea. They’ve tried green tea and have told me that they think it’s gross, but I think it’s because they’ve brewed it incorrectly. They never have green tea around when I come visit, so I’d bring some excellent quality greens for them to try.
All three of the Palais de Thes blends sound wonderful, but I think I’d save the best (to me) for last: Les Gourmands!
