Fictional Feast

Fictitious DishesWhat It Is: A new pint-sized photobook by Dinah Fried that artfully sets up and photographs 50 of literature’s most memorable meals. Each meal is accompanied by the passage in the book that inspired the photograph, as well as some factoids on the author’s actual taste in food as well as some insight into the meals themselves. The photos above, for the record, represent (in clockwise order), Gonzo, The Catcher in the Rye, and Confederacy, but other legendary titles include Oliver Twist, To Kill a Mockingbird, Alice in Wonderland and more. Eat this one up!

Who It’s For: Any literary-minded friend (it’ll change how they read about food in the future). Any foodie-minded friend (especially if they’re into food styling for their job and / or blog). Any pop culture-minded friend (that wants something for people to ooh and ahh over on their coffee table).

What It Costs: The list price is $24.99, but it can be found online for less.

Where It’s At: Bookstores nationwide and online.

Bonus entry into my Shoppers Drug Mart giveaway – tell me in the comments below, would you be interested in checking out this book?
