Goodie Girls

Wedding season is in full swing at this point, and I naturally started doing some brainstorming for some bridesmaid-friendly gifts. Then I had a brainwave: what if it wasn’t just about one gift? What if you put together a sweet little goodie bag for your girls instead? And so, I changed gears, did more research on some smaller items that would work well as a gift bag on the big day – and beyond. Here’s some ideas for how you can affordably fill up a goodie bag for your bridesmaids!

Initial NecklaceTiny Gold Letter Necklace – $17 @ Liza’s Little Things
Typically speaking, customization = cost. But not the case with these pint-sized initial necklaces. Available in either a silver or gold finish, they’re a great little accessory your gals can wear on your wedding day and treasure forever. Shipping is pretty cheap too; even when ordering five necklaces for you and your friends, you’ll still be spending under $10.

Fuse GelnamelFuse Gelnamel – Starter Kits $39.99 + Additional Colours $15.59 @ Shopper’s Drug Mart, Wal-Mart and Rexall
Part of the fun of any bride’s wedding day is getting glammed up with her closest girlfriends. Instead of going for a pricey spa visit, why not do some of that pampering around home? A day or two before the wedding, chill out with your girls, do facials, and break out these Fuse Gelnamel kits in your bridesmaid goodie bags. Each Starter Kit comes equipped with a mini LED lamp, one of the brand’s 12 signature shades of gel polish, and all the other prep and finish tools you’ll need for a flawless, salon-quality gel manicure that can go chip-free for up to two weeks! I’ve tried out the product myself and I have to say, I was impressed – I’m pretty hard on my nails and they stayed flawless for well over a week, and touch-ups were a breeze. This is an awesome gift for your friends because it’ll help them get ready for your wedding without breaking the bank, plus they can swap colours and use it again in the future!

Indigo Laura ClutchLaura Clutch – $19 each @ Indigo
Since the whole theme of this post is ‘goodie bags’ I figured you might very well need a bag to stash all your goods in. Every bridal party I’ve been a part of has included little pouches filled up with touchup products for the day. These sleek little clutches are discrete enough to function as both a backup beauty stash kit and as a fab accessory – well after your wedding is over. Available in a range of metallic, pastel and contrasting finishes, you can even customize each one to your girls’ personal tastes.

Red Apple LipstickRed Apple Lipstick – $23.50 USD each
The snaps from my own wedding have reaffirmed that when you’re a bridesmaid, going bold in the lip department is a grand idea. But do yourself a favour – skip the typically chemical-laden (including lead!) lipsticks off the drugstore shelf and opt for something that won’t poison you as it wears off during the day. Red Apple Lipstick is an impressive collection of gluten-free, paraben-free makeup that’s completely safe to use – making it ideal for natural beauty lovers like myself and those with sensitive skin. The number of glowing things I could say are pretty long, but apart from the brand’s approach to ingredients, I also just love their site. Each lipstick is photographed on women of different skin tones, to give you a clear idea of how it’ll pop with your own face. With over 40 shades from sheer nudes to eye-popping reds, you’ve got plenty of choices too. And if your bridesmaids are more the glossy gloss type, they’ve got you covered there too, including with an apropos sparkly pink shade called ‘Bridesmaid’. As a heads up, Red Apple Lipstick does ship to Canada from their website, but you can also get in touch with their Canadian rep Lisa by visiting ‘Glam Goes Green’.

Headmistress Midsummer Garden Bouquet ClipMidsummer Garden Bouquet Hair Clip – $29 @ Headmistress
If you want to add some uniformity to your bridesmaids, why not gift them with a matching accessory? Headmistress has a gorgeous collection of light and bright floral clips and headbands, but the soft ivory and mint hues of this particular alligator clip jumped out at me. After she wears it on your wedding day, your friend can repurpose it by tucking it onto a blazer lapel, through a wicker bag, or wear it with a more casual hairstyle. What more could you ask for?

Alright ladies – whether you’re brides, bridesmaids, or a happy guest this summer, I have a little prize package that’s sure to make one of you amongst the most radiant at the fete. One lucky winner is going to win a Fuse Gelnamel Starter Kit + an additional colour of polish, as well as a Red Apple Lipstick ‘Trifecta’ set, including your choice of lipstick, matching lip liner, and the brand’s signature priming Rallye Balm, for a total value of over $100!
