Mix Up Some Holiday Magic

A lot of us have close connections between food and the holidays. Whether it’s baking cookies with grandma or whipping up a cozy Christmas morning brunch or taking on the behemoth task of being a holiday dinner hostess, a lot of time is spent in the kitchen come December. Christmas is also an ideal time for upgrading your kitchen – whether treating yourself or asking Santa very, very nicely for a new device that’ll make your cooking and baking adventures that much easier. If you’re in the market for a new kitchen appliance this year, let me suggest then, Magimix.

Magimix Colored Vision ToasterThis isn’t the first time I’ve written about this innovative housewares brand. The first product I featured was Magimix’s Colored Vision Toaster (retailing for $230$280). This unique toaster features long-lasting professional quartz elements that’ll ensure your toaster isn’t well, toasted, within a year or two of use. Not only are they built to last, they’re incredibly beautiful to look at. The Magimix Vision Toaster features a unique see-through window that allows you to see your toast crisp up as it cooks. If you notice it’s getting a little too brown for your liking, just hit a button and it’ll pop up. Available in multiple finishes (including a striking stainless steel option), this versatile toaster includes other nifty features like the ability to defrost, a special ‘bagel’ setting, and a ‘warm’ button that’ll keep your breads, baguettes, waffles, toaster pastries – you name it – lightly warmed while you wait for your water to boil / eggs to cook / and so on. It’s a lovely housewarming gift for your kids’ first place, or a perfect pick for any holiday season showers and weddings.

Magimix Food ProcessorToday’s real focus though, is the latest Magimix product available to Canadians – their series of food processors. Available in a 12-cup, 14-cup, and 16-cup size, Magimix’s powerful line of food processors are actually made by THE original creators of the food processor – Robot-Coupe. That means top notch, chef-approved technology and years of practice to ‘get it right’. Of course, despite the restaurant-level quality of this machine, they  are designed for home use.

Magimix by Robot-Coupe Food ProcessorNo matter which of the sizes you acquire, you’ll quickly learn that this is an incredible multi-tasking machine. It comes equipped with three different-sized bowls to suit whatever task you’re taking on. Drop in the small one for quick jobs like mincing herbs or nuts, or whizzing a quick sauce together. The medium bowl is great if you need to slice veggies. And the large one can handle tough tasks like kneading dough or mixing up some batter (as well as yes, slicing and dicing everything from cheese to veggies). With those different sized bowls, you better believe the motor on this thing is up to the task (and shockingly quiet). In fact, it automatically adjusts its speed and power based on the task at hand, so you’ll preserve the motor’s function for way longer. Magimix 16-Cup Food ProcessorAnd along with the food processor’s multiple bowls, it also comes with over a half-dozen attachments and blades to tackle a huge range of tasks. What I particularly appreciate about this setup is all of these attachments are neatly housed in a sleek case – making it easy to stash and to avoid the dreaded rifling around through a drawer only to slice open your finger on a blade conundrum. All of the metal blades are made from super sharp Sabatier stainless steel, so you don’t have to worry about them dulling. When you couple that powerful motor with these razor sharp blades, this incredible machine can do everything from crush ice to puree soup to grate cheese to help you make a delicious homemade pizza dough.

Magimix Food Processor LifestyleThe Magimix by Robot-Coupe Food Processor is available at both Williams Sonoma and the intriguing shopping site iget.it (both of which ship to Canada), for prices ranging from $425 – $780 depending on the size you select. That may seem like a fair bit to spend on a single kitchen appliance, but let me tell you the important lesson I’ve learned over the last few years: you TOTALLY get what you pay for. I’ve only lived on my own for less than a decade, and I’ve already gone through two food processors. Given the long warranty and high quality of the blades and engine inside the Magimix, I imagine this one will last me way, way longer. I’m in the process of upgrading my various small and big appliances and I have to say that there is no comparison between say, a $100 blender or food processor or toaster and the quality you get from a brand like Magimix. The reduced time and effort you’ll spend in the kitchen alongside the reduced headaches from a fussy machine alone will make this an investment worth buying.

Now as you may have suspected, I couldn’t very well rave about how awesome the Magimix Food Processor is without giving one away – and that’s exactly what I’m doing! Due to my previous career, I decided not to open up a person facebook account, however, have started another one for contesting purposes. I wanted to clarify that my facebook name is Eli Dnileli, because I have been liking your products through this facebook page that I recently set up for following friends and contesting! I also have another email elidnileli@hotmail.com which I use for contests and blogs, however, moving forward, I will be entering your giveaways using my personal email, which is, shehnas@hotmail.com, the reason for this is that The Canadian Gift Guide is my favourite blog giveaway website so far! I have decided to only enter your contests, because the giveaways are so great and I figure keeping on track with one blog website is enough for me! That’s a little about me! Thanks for your time, Evren Aydoner
