Sing Me A Song
What It Is: Maybe you’ve heard of these, maybe you haven’t, but I thought it was a pretty cool (if potentially annoying) idea. DigiBirds are basically an avian version of a Furby. They have over 24 different birds to collect, each with its own unique characteristics and look. You can interact with your birdie in a few different ways. Blow on it and it’ll chirp at you. Blow on the included whistle and it’ll sing you a song. Place it near a computer or device and visit the DigiBirds website and you can get it to play other songs through a secret audible code system. And place the birds together and they’ll sing in harmony with one another. It’s a cute, springy gift that’ll at least give your kid an appreciation for the real thing that’s perched outside their window!
Who It’s For: Your son or daughter, as a fun Easter basket treat. Your bird-loving parents, as a cute decor item to throw in their window. Your niece or nephew, to merge nature with technology as part of a cool birthday present. Admittedly, this toy seems to be more geared to girls (all their advertising is very girly) but who says younger boys wouldn’t dig it too?
What It Costs: Depends. I’ve seen a single bird for as low as $10.95 (at a source that was totally sold out of them), but in general they are around $12.99. You can also get limited edition birds and three-packs from certain retailers.
Where It’s At: Try Amazon.ca for a more exotic selection with accessories (although prices seem higher). Or Toys “R” Us or Mastermind Toys.
Speaking of toys…want a bonus entry into my Discovery Toys giveaway? Just tell me in the comments below – which of these birdies would you want to buy? For who? Check out the DigiBirds website above to learn more.
