Clean Cut

na Coille Studios Reclaimed Wooden Cutting BoardWhat It Is: Happy Earth Day everyone! In honour of this most eco-friendly day, I thought I’d feature a green gift idea from na Coille, an Ottawa-based company that collects reclaimed and savage wood from the Ottawa Valley, and repurposes it into beautiful pieces, like these sleek cutting boards. While the wood is old growth, it’s definitely not past its prime – the company focuses in on in-demand woods like black walnut, black cherry, and maple – and renders it into beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces. And having invested in both a nice knife and a wooden cutting board this year, I can’t say enough good things about either!

Who It’s For: The newlyweds, as a wedding gift you can feel good about. Your spouse, as a lovely gift for your wooden anniversary. Your kid, as a housewarming gift they’ll treasure.

What It Costs: The exact one you see up above is $155 – but the boards start as low as $40.

Where It’s At: Green-minded shop Terra 20.

Nab an extra entry into my Nourage giveaway! Tell me in the comments below – what are you doing this Earth Day to celebrate and save our planet? What do you think of this eco chic gift idea?

We recycle everything. My kids tease me because I wash all empty containers so they can be reused. We need to learn from our ancestors who recycled and repaired everything. The cutting boards are an excellent idea.

I recycle all the time. I try to keep my consumption to a minimum & when I no longer need an item I rethink it’s usage or give it to someone that I know will use it. I think the cutting boards are a great idea.
