Till Dress Do Us Part
Wedding season is just around the corner – if it hasn’t started for you already – and I’ve been scoping the racks for some fabulous, wedding-appropriate dresses, no matter what kind of celebration you’re attending. Check out a few of my top picks below (which would also make lovely gifts for any gal in your life) and get set for the season!
For a Classic Saturday Wedding – Something Out Of A Dream Dress – $65 @ Ever Rose: If you’re the type to fret over what to wear to a wedding, look no further – this foolproof, swishy chiffon dress has an effortless fit and flare silhouette that looks great on everyone (as does the bright teal colour!) Simply pop up on a glittering statement necklace and you’re good to go.
For a Formal Affair – Tadashi Shoji Embroidered Metallic Lace Sheath Dress – $368 @ Nordstrom: This chic lace dress definitely ups the formal factor for when you’re attending a particularly swanky event. Bonus points for coming in a half-dozen colours to make sure you find your ideal match!
For a Fashionista’s Fete – Jessica Simpson Printed Chiffon Maxi Dress – $185 @ Hudson’s Bay: A maxi is a bold choice for a wedding, and one that must be carefully deployed or you’ll risk either blending in with the bridesmaids or upstaging them. This pretty floral, halter-style maxi is perfect for a wedding where you know every gal will be bringing their fashion a-game.
For a Cocktail Celebration – ASOS Twist Front Glitter maxi – $96 @ ASOS: Going to a nighttime celebration? You can turn up the heat a bit with a more cocktail-appropriate look, like this dramatic mint green maxi, featuring a glittery fabric, thigh-high slit, and unique chest cutout.
For a Preppy Party – Betty Francis Floral Dress – $72.99 USD @ Ruche: If the wedding you’re attending is at a classic venue like a golf course or country club, dress the part and don a crisp, vintage-inspired, ladylike silhouette. Fun note? This cute dress features a unique semi-open back with ribbon ties.
For a Backyard Bash – Dawning Maxi Dress – $188 USD @ Anthropologie: When the wedding is as casual as a backyard party, all bets are off. Ditch the super formal gear and go for a fun but striking maxi or midi. Anthropologie has tons of picks, but this unique midi-length dress wins for its versatility; you could just as easily rock it to a weekend brunch or day at the office.
