Going Spiral

ZoodlesWhat It Is: Spiralizers are all the rage these days. The reason? They can take your everyday veggies and turn them into lean little noodles that can easily be swapped out for any pasta, creating a low-carb, lip-smacking option to your favourite Italian dishes. The Zoodle Slicer is one of the best out there, in part because it’s so simple to use. Just insert your veggie of choice and turn it like you would a pencil sharpener. The Original Zoodle Slicer can actually make two different sizes of ‘noodles’ depending on your dish, plus this kit comes with a cookbook to get you started.

Who It’s For: Your gluten-free friend, as a new way to enjoy ‘pasta’. Your paleo or Whole 30-experimenting sibling, to curb their pasta cravings. Your foodie parents, to add to their kitchen gadget collection.

What It Costs: $51. I’ll note there are other brands that offer cheaper options if you want to just ‘try’ this whole thing out.

Where It’s At: I spotted the Original Zoodle Slicer in Canada at Amazon.ca

I’ve been waiting for them to come down in price in order to give one a try and see if I will consistently use it. Think it is a great idea to swap out vegetables for pasta — or even reduce the amount of pasta with some vegetables.
