Like Magic
What It Is: We all want to believe Harry Potter-esque magic is a real thing (and for the record, Universal Studios actually makes it feel like it could be), but in the meantime, the next best thing might be the products being slowly rolled out by UK-based The Unseen Emporium. Part art exhibitionists, part curators of curious objects, their site is worth exploring to get what they’re all about. In the meantime I’ll point you in the direction of a couple of their products – The Book of Shadows and the The Support Candle. Both items will change colour, sort of like mood rings, based on the energies in the room. It’s trippy – but beautiful – stuff.
Who It’s For: Your crystal and magic-obsessed friend, to add to her eclectic collection. Your niece, as a cool birthday gift. Your sibling, as a unique housewarming present that’ll start hundreds of conversations.
What It Costs: Magic comes at a price. The book is £25 (about $50), the candle is £29 (about $58). Shipping is a flat rate of about $30 Canadian.
