Find of the Month: ECCO Shoes
Footwear makes a fabulous gift any time of the year (as long as you can exchange it for fit reasons), but it’s a particularly sensational choice during the winter season. We all regularly burn through our new boots as the salt, grime, and general wetness of the season wreaks havoc on our footwear. The solution? An extra sturdy pair of shoes that can withstand the weather and serve as an alternate to your shoes and boots that aren’t quite up to the challenge of Canadian winters.
ECCO is a Danish shoe brand that you’re likely all at least somewhat familiar with. It’s been around since the 60s and is known for its rugged yet fashionable footwear, but they’ve got a lot more in store than their infamous hiking boots. Today I’m highlighting a bunch of my favourite styles from ECCO this season for everyone on your list – and rest assured, their online store offers free online shipping and returns so you can guarantee a perfectly fitting present this season!
ECCO Elaine Buckle Boot – $290
First up, a style of boots that expertly fuses together function and fashion. Hitting the lower portion of your calf, these on-trend, moto-inspired boots come in three colours of nubuck leather and look excellent with everything from skinny jeans to a pleather skirt and tights. Like many ECCO products, the boots feature their water repellant HYDROMAX technology which keeps you and your shoes high and dry. Best of all, they’ve got a lamb’s wool lining to keep those toes nice and snuggly warm.
ECCO Edinburgh GTX Boot – $230
Guys rarely have wardrobe dilemmas, but one I can definitely understand is the fact their dressy work shoes that work so well with their office wear don’t exactly jive with the elements. Enter ECCO with a solution – a sleek pair of waterproof boots that fit right in with shiny leather office shoes, but are warm, comfortable, and resistant to the wear and tear of winter. In fact with a GORE-TEX membrane, they’re guaranteed to be 100% waterproof. Finally, a men’s dress shoe that can go from the parking lot to the office to drinks after work, totally seamlessly.
ECCO SP Small Hobo Bag – $250
Here’s something you may or may not know – ECCO carries more than just their famed shoes! They also have great accessories, like this chic little hobo bag. Available in five flattering hues – from peppy pink to metallic silver – that work with any woman’s wardrobe, this easygoing bag offers an exterior zip pouch to keep those essentials close by and tons of space and interior pockets inside to keep things organized. It’s a lovely gift for the woman that can never have enough purses!
ECCO Caden Youth – $135
Be the coolest kid on the playground with these hip twists on a classic silhouette. The high top is back and ECCO’s take features a leather upper, GORE-TEX waterproof lining, and a light and flexible outsole. Of course, the design themselves is ultra hip, with electric blue laces, contrasting yellow stitching, and just the right amount of cool kid style.
ECCO Whistler GTX High – $250
You know that a shoe is meant to battle winter weather when it’s literally named after one of Canada’s premium winter destinations. The Whistler boot comes in three shades of distressed nubuck leather – each of which feels totally modern now but will look great too once the boots are broken in a bit. Featuring GORE-TEX and RECEPTOR technology, the boots are rugged enough for light hiking and will keep your feet totally dry from the elements. While they’re certainly an ace pick for the casual outdoor enthusiast, they’re also perfect shoes for running around town in when the winter weather hits.
ECCO Baltimore Peep Toe – $220
See what I mean about ECCO having more in store than what you’d expect? They carry a few different ‘formal’ styles that you might be surprised to see they carry, like this fun yet comfortable pair of peep toe booties. With a deep plunging cutout and a little hint of toe, these beauties will keep your feet warmer at the holiday Christmas party than a typical pair of strappy sandals, yet they also look great in the spring when you rock ’em with a pair of jeans.
ECCO Aspen – $150
ECCO also carries cool shoes for girls, like these candy-coloured waterproof boots that work for the chillier months (including rainy fall and spring). Available in two colourful combinations, these cheerful boots are one of a few covetable styles that even adults will have their eye on. With GORE-TEX linings to keep your feet warm and dry, the boots are great for romps in the snow and waits at the bus stop alike.
ECCO Foley Laptop Bag – $310
I was on the hunt last year for a nice laptop / work bag for my husband and there is slim pickings out there for ones that will hold 15″. However, I wish I’d known about ECCO’s cool lineup of sleek, masculine bags as this one has it all! With a padded lining to protect your laptop (up to 15″ in size!) from bumps and drops, a wide shoulder strap to make it a snap to carry, and three neutral colours to choose from, this smooth and stylish bag is a perfect gift for the business man in your family.
ECCO Men’s Tour Wingtip Hybrid – $240
If you’re shopping for a golfer on your list, ECCO actually has golf shoes and accessories too. I personally like golf wear to have a little personality to it (madras pants? yes please!) and these classically-inspired wingtip shoes fit the bill. With contrasting soles and laces, these cool golf shoes look like old school wingtips, but offer hybrid technology for great grip on the course. I particularly like that they’re spikeless – way more practical in the long run and easier to take care of, plus they still offer the stability and support you’re looking for when hitting the links.
It was tons of fun pulling together this gift guide and I urge you to spend some time on the ECCO site to find your dream pair of shoes, boots, sandals, or accessories this holiday season.
