Built to Last: Bespoke Leather Footwear Made Right Here in Canada
What It Is: I have made respect for people who take on what might be considered a ‘lost art’ in some circles. One such case is cobbling – cordwainer Adam Finn of Last Shoes however, is keeping the craftmanship of handmade shoes alive with his Saskatoon-based studio. You can order a pair of their ‘off the rack’ shoes online that’ll be custom made to your size, or you can contact them to have an even more personalized pair designed. Often sourced from local materials – as in, Saskatchewan leather – the brand also carries leather accessories such as gloves and belts. I’m also digging their denim jackets.
Who It’s For: Your dad, who appreciates the finer things. Your fashionista daughter, for an heirloom-quality grad gift. Your spouse, for a perfect ‘leather anniversary’ gift.
What It Costs: Shoes start at $275 – most pairs are around $650. Most accessories are available for under $100.
