Find of the Month: Indigo

Happy November everyone! You know what that means – it’s time to start thinking holidays. If you haven’t already eyed holiday displays and started making a list (and checking it twice) I’m sure it’ll be on your radar soon enough. I have long, long wanted to feature Indigo as my Find of the Month, in large part because I truly see them as one of Canada’s premier gifting destinations. So much so, oftentimes I’ll stop by one of their stores just for a soothing, inspiring browse (ditto with following their wormhole online – did you know they have over 7 million products now?) With that said, I am delighted to share some of my favourite gift ideas for 2017 from one of my top holiday shopping destinations: the one, the only, Indigo.

Matt & Nat x Indigo Bags – From $85
One of the best parts of shopping at Indigo is all the cool brands they curate from around the globe – while also paying attention to gift ideas closer to home. Matt & Nat, the Canadian vegan leather wunderkind bag brand, is so prominent at Indigo (with over 200 over their bags available), they teamed up to do a capsule collection for the brand, including these timeless styles in serene neutrals like tan, black, cream, and a dash of dusty rose.  These bags make stunning picks for literally any woman – nab the backpack for your hip daughter or niece, get the clutch as a classy choice for your best friend or spouse, and opt for a swingy shoulder bag for mom to liven up her wardrobe.

Mermaid Pillow Cover – $39.50
Reversible sequins are everywhere right now, and Indigo has gotten into the spirit of things with multiple products that dazzle no matter which way you look at ’em (including a cute backpack for the kiddos). In general the Indigo home collection features some great pillow covers that are perfect for dressing up your space for the holidays – or whenever a room needs a refresh – but I had to feature this sparkling minty green pillowcase. Perfect for brightening up your basement couch or for decorating your teen’s room, it’s a wintery choice that truly shines. Psst – it also comes in trendy rose gold or magical iridescent.

The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur | Leonardo Da Vinci by Walter Isaacson | Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan | Uncommon Type by Tom Hanks
Anyone that shops at Indigo knows that they are so, so much more than their humble bookseller beginning. However, given the fact I love books and love giving books as gifts, I’d be remiss to skip over the store’s thoughtfully curated book collection. While literally any title under the sun is easily searched for, Indigo uses lists and recommendations that make it easy to hone in on gripping page-turners, highly anticipated titles, or simply books that’ll suit your interests or past purchases. CEO Heather Reisman’s Heather’s Picks have earned a cult-like following akin to a Canadian Oprah as well. And with so many exciting titles this season (including many I’ll be previewing in upcoming posts), it’s easy to find a title for everyone on your list – often with special savings available for online and in-store purchases!

Reading Socks – $34.50 each
I think at this point I’ve either given or received reading socks to nearly everyone in my family (and to many of my friends as well). These cuddly, cozy slipper alternatives are just the thing to tuck into after a cold winter’s day – and they come in more styles than ever for the whole family this year! From the classic mini waffle knit to a cheerful Nordic-inspired multi-pattern, there’s even fun accents like animal faces, pom poms, and contrast toes or heels. Always a perennial favourite, the only reason why you’ll need to replace your reading socks is because you won’t want to take them off!

Voluspa Mini Decorative Candles – $12
Another awesome thing about shopping at Indigo is it’s not just about the BIG gifts – it’s an excellent place to stock up on hostess presents, thank you items, and of course, stocking stuffers for the holiday season, with thousands of gift ideas under the $30 price point. Case in point? These elegant little mini candles from covetable brand Voluspa. Coming in over a dozen scents, the pillbox-inspired tins are almost as pretty as the sumptuous scents contained within, like Bourbon Vanille, Prosecco Bellini, or Pink Citron. In general, actually, the candle collection at Indigo is pretty unparalleled – browse to your heart’s content online or better yet, visit a shop to get whiff for yourself.

Final Touch 5-Piece Caesar Set – $32
Indigo really does have gifts for everyone – including the lads. While there are plenty of ‘strictly for dudes’ picks like a manly scarf or stylish watch, this little set caught my eye as being fitting for any dude or lady that digs a Caesar on the weekends. Canada’s top bevvie can be made perfectly with this five-piece set, including two glasses, a rimmer, and a jigger. Plus, the glasses even have a recipe printed right on them for those who’ve only had Caesars while dining out and not at home. At this price point it’s perfect for your bros – related or friendly.

Large Embossed Journal – $15.50 | Boxed Pen Agenda – $9
Another section I can’t help but stop by when I’m at Indigo is their stationery section. Always filled with gorgeous coordinating sets, it’s a haven when shopping for students, dreamers, or office types – or even just those who need a place to jot down what’s happening in their life. One of the latest themes at Indigo is their marble collection (a continual trend over the last few years – see this post also!) which consists of everything from annual planners and journals to pens, lap desks, calendars and more. It’s a stone cool way to decorate your workspace with some truly chic statement pieces.

It wouldn’t be a kickoff to the holiday season without a wonderful prize package care of Indigo! One lucky reader is going to take home this winter white-themed prize, including:

  • Matt & Nat x Indigo Fabi Bag
  • Voluspa Mini Decorative Tin Candle
  • Marble Notebook and Pen
  • The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur
