Can I just tell you guys something? I’m obsessed with our country’s amazing beauty sampling programs. For the uninitiated, here’s the scoop: the originator of this unique service is a US-based company called Birchbox. For a flat fee each month (including shipping!), a package with a handful of luxury-sized (read: not one or two uses) beauty samples is delivered right to your doorstep. Even better? They’re tailored to your personal style and preferences (to a degree). Even better better? More often than not, they include at least one full-size product. Even better better better? More often than not, you’ll see the values of your products be as much as six times more than what you paid to get them in the first place. 

There are about four companies in Canada that offer this type of service, and two from the USA that ship up here. Each of them has some unique features and has been going through evolutions lately, but none moreso than Glymm – which is the first out of the gate in providing you with a greener, leaner beauty sampling experience. While other similar companies are shipping you bulky boxes each month, Glymm has swapped that approach in favour of cute, reusable makeup totes that are great for traveling (just like the sample sizes you’re receiving), or add an extra class factor if you order a bunch for gift-giving. Glymm also doesn’t supplement their pretty kits with tons of extra, paper-waste packaging – you simply go online to learn the story on each of the just-for-you products in your bag.

There are, in general, many lovely things about Glymm and the whole beauty box craze. For one, as mentioned, you can siphon off products from your own boxes and use them as stocking stuffers, birthday present toppers, or bon voyage trinkets for your pals. Part of the fun of these subscriptions is the surprise of finding out what’s in your box each month, and learning about tons of new brands, but if something just isn’t to your taste, your gal pals will certainly find something to fall in love with. Of course, you can also gift them with a subscription to Glymm yourself, and at a pretty impressive price – for just $12/month, you could hook up your bridesmaids with a year’s subscription each, or gift your sister with a swell birthday gift of a three-month trial run.

There’s a bunch of other perks to being a Glymm subscriber as well I might add. Virtually every product in your monthly package is available online in the Glymm store, which carries a ton of hard-to-find, indie, or luxury beauty brands. Each month subscribers are invited to take advantage of exclusive deals, like discounts on a specific product line, or a free product with a minimum purchase in the store. In addition, you can also earn Glymm points just for subscribing, referring friends, or shopping in the Glymm store which you can use toward product or subscription credits. Pretty beautiful, right?

    The product that I would most likely own from the Glymm bag would be the Microdermabrasion Scrub. I love using a good scrub 3 times a day, including the morning, mid day as well as at night, right before I go to bed. I like my skin to feel rejuvenated and refreshed and I believe that Glymm products help you achieve the results that you wish.
