I love, love, love when companies get in touch with me about their products / stores. As much fun as it is to research the globe for the best in gift ideas, it’s also cool when I unearth an awesome new discovery for you guys that’s plunked right into my lap – such is the case with today’s brand, ONS GEAR. The brand started with a single product designed to keep that ever-prevalent Canadian snow from seeping into the arms of little ones. From there, proud ‘parentpreneurs’ Crystal and Michael decided to launch an online boutique with truly innovative products designed to make parenting easier – both from themselves and other smart-minded parents. Today I’ve highlighted five of my favourite gift ideas, which make perfect presents for expecting moms, new parents, baby showers, and of course, for the upcoming holiday season – and hey, even if you don’t have kids you’ll see some pretty smart ideas on this fun site.
Mitt-Ons – $24.95 per pair
Nothing is quite as icky as that feeling of melting snow running down your otherwise packed snuggly tight arms (or ankles, for that matter) – and Mitt-Ons are here to combat that very issue. With an extra long, elasticized, fleece sleeve that rolls up or under your coat, you can keep those snowballs from melting in your hands and dripping down your wrists. Available in three sizes, even mom and dad will adore a pair of these.
Sticky Bellies – $15 per set
With the advent of social media, it’s become au courant to track the progress of your baby bump through weekly photo updates of your ever-expanding belly – plus it makes for great scrapbooking fodder for your kid’s baby book. Sticky Bellies is a fun way to capture those memories, with the look and feel of a sewn-on appliqué that simply sticks onto the clothing item of your choice. And if the mama-to-be is already well on her way, consider scooping up one of the baby sets, which you can throw onto your little one after they’re born for monthly snaps as they go from a little red-faced potato to an adorable, cherub-cheeked one-year-old.
Activity Cube – $28.99
Root playtime in nature with this super snuggly, machine-washable activity cube that’ll exercise the tiniest tot’s minds for hours. With a variety of sounds, textures, shapes, and colours, this is a sweet gift that’s off the beaten path from your typical brain-building plastic toys, and has a real wow factor at baby showers.
Cookie Safe – $4.99
Loving this idea as a stocking stuffer for kids (heck, adults could use it!) These snap-top, reusable plastic containers will keep your precious lunchtime snacks from getting crushed in the day-in, day-out rush of lunch bags, backpacks, cubby holes, and lockers. Hint: to sweeten the deal, pack a seasonal festive treat inside the case for a little one to munch on as they unwrap their gifts!
Diaper Wallet – $24.99
Ditch the diaper bag and trade it in for a streamlined Diaper Wallet that fits into your favourite purse and is amazing for on-the-go mommies. This all-in-one kit includes a wipeable changing mat, space for diapers and disposable bags, and wipes to keep both your baby and the environment sparkling clean. With fun designs, no harmful toxins, and snaps to keep everything in place, this is that gift idea your mommy friend never knew she was missing – and will never forget once she has it for herself.
Expecting? Know someone that is? Trying to get prego? You may be in luck – I’m giving away a Sticky Bellies set (your choice whether you score the Maternity or the Baby collection) to a lucky reader. Here’s how you enter:
1) Leave a comment by November 9th on which item from the ONS GEAR store you’d most like to gift (or own). It can be anything featured in this post, or anything from the store.
2) Entries are limited to one per person / per email address / per household (or more if you score bonus entries). A random draw will be conducted on or around November 10th to select the winner, who will have 48 hours to respond before another winner is chosen in their place.
3) Entries are limited to Canadians that have reached the age of majority in their province. Quebec is not eligible to participate in this promotion.
