Find Of The Month: JewelMint
I honestly can’t remember who found JewelMint first, but let’s just say my sister and I were all kinds of excited to learn that they finally started shipping to Canada in the last few months. Ladies, let me introduce you to jewelery mecca. Gentlemen, let me introduce you to where you’ll be buying gifts from for the next oh, five years of your life.
Here’s the gist of the magic. JewelMint was created by style-savvy actress Kate Bosworth along with her stylist, Cher Coulter. Each month the site launches a new collection of pieces that span a variety of personal styles – from screwhead-embellished sets to delicate wood bead necklaces.
But here’s where things get ultra-cool. Not every girl is going to dig a tribal bangle, and others might have a serious dislike for chunky cocktail rings. So before you start shopping, you fill out a custom Style Profile: ten simple questions that test your gut reactions to everything from style icons and dream designers to preferred nail polish colours and perfect purses.
Once the results of your Style Profile are tabulated, you set up an account for free and presto: every month customized pieces that should match your personal style will appear in your ‘Showroom’, and also help you keep tabs on what’s running low on stock so you can snap up your faves in a flash. And if the fashion-based algorithm doesn’t quite hit your style on the head? You can tell it which pieces in your showroom are completely not your taste – and specify why – and it’ll give you some other options, plus continue building a definitive profile to suit your tastes as time goes on. Now you see where this might get dangerous, right?
Okay, and if that weren’t enough – every piece is given its own showcase. Cher or Kate weigh in the inspiration and styling ideas for every single gem, bauble, and bangle, and photos and videos let you get up close and personal with your favourites before you buy. And on that note? Quite possibly the best thing about JewelMint is the credit-based system. It costs $30 for one credit, and virtually every single piece on the site is one credit – whether it’s a set of three rings or a single spangled necklace.
To make things super easy peasy, you can actually subscribe to JewelMint. At the start of each month you’ll be presented with a new selection of items. If you’re in love, use your base monthly credit and call it a day – a special treat to kick off February, March, or beyond. If you’re not feeling anything, simply hit ‘Skip This Month’ before the 5th and your credit card will remain JewelMint free. Of course, if you’re falling all over yourself on narrowing down the selection, you CAN buy more than a single piece.

Oh WHYYYY, This is seriously dangerous waters I’m treading through here….I just splurged on some online shopping the other day. Now I see cute jewelery?! *sighs*
I would like to think I’m more of a necklace gal but I always end up not wearing a lot of the ones I get (the only one I wear majority of a time is a Christmas present from the bf). I went through setting up a profile and account on JewelMint, and then when I saw that there was mention about purchasing and items sent to you, to your showroom, each month, I was a bit worried and felt pressured somehow; I didn’t know if this site would always be free or whether there would possibly be a push to order something, or to even keep the account. Something just didn’t feel right. I didn’t want that, so something stopped me from fulfilling it…Possibly because I am not in a position to buy anything, so I didn’t want to commit to it, have anything sent to me, suggested to me, when I knew that I wouldn’t be able to make a purchase in jewelry, especially, in the foreseeable future….
With this said, may I still tell you what I would like, if I had a wish and could win it, still participating in the Giveaway, please? Please advise, as I have to go back and find the exact name – it’s the bracelet with the red stones. It looks like it had chainlinks. It was a single piece, but displayed on the model with other bracelets. I could not find a name for it. It’s on the display picture for “Match Your Style,” on the main page: http://www.jewelmint.com/ It’s the bracelet on the very bottom, closest to her wrist and hand.
However, if a specific name is required, I must say that I LOVE the Lady Luck rings, especially the cute little shamrock ring. I would love this to wear on St. Patrick’s Day, seeing that I am from the most Irish City in Canada – Saint John, New Brunswick! 😀
