10 for $10 – April 2012 Edition

Another month, another chance to pick out ten gift ideas for $10 or less. As with last month, shipping¬†isn’t¬†included on these items, but that’s not to say you can’t scope them out in your hometown, or use the shipping rate as a one-time chance to stock up on gifts for several occasions.

Brooklyn Hard Candy – $8/Bottle
Available in Blueberry, Concord Grape, Golden Pineapple, Green Apple, Tangerine, and Wild Strawberry, these old-fashioned candies come stuffed in apothecary-style jars. They make a great going-away gift for a co-worker, or a sweet hostess gift for a friend.

Smashbox Double-Ended Lip Gloss – $9 @ Sephora
Get rich, saturated colour in two complementary hues with this super-value lip gloss wand from Smashbox. Available in two colour palettes to suit a more bold or neutral look, this is a fab find for your friend’s birthday, or bridesmaid goodie bags.

Kikkerland Head Massager – $6.50 @ Zone Maison
I have the back version of this massager and it’s ah-mazing. The cool thing about the head version is you can self-massage for an all-over tingly feeling, or use it on your spouse / kid to relax after a tense day. This is a great stocking stuffer if you’re thinking ahead, but also a nice ‘just because’ gift if someone in your life is going through a particularly stressful time in their lives.

2-in-1 Glass Rimmer – $9.99 from Trudeau Corporation
If you’ve got a cocktail-swigging friend in your midst, pick this up as an easy birthday, housewarming, or host gift. One side of this handy gadget features a citrus reamer, while the other makes it easy to pour in sugar, salt, or your flavoured rimmer of choice to finish off your favourite drink.

Owl Laundry Bag – $10 @ Soho Corner Store
Got a sibling or child heading off to college or branching out to their first home? Chances are they’ll still be knocking at your door for laundry help at some point, so give ’em a cute way to tote their whites and colours with this cheery laundry bag.

Cupcake To Go Holder – $9.99 @ Sweet Jane’s
If you’re going to buy some sweets for your sweet, package them in one of these super cute cupcake holders that’ll keep that perfect frosting job in tact, and your cupcake in one piece from home to the office. Fun idea to kick off your kid or spouse’s first day at a new job.

Chevron Feather Earrings – $6 @ Smart Set
Chevron is back in a big way this spring, and these graphic printed-feather earrings are a fun way to get in on two trends at once. Best of all, you can slip them into a greeting card and send them across the country for a low-cost birthday gift for a faraway friend.

Windproof Lighter – $8 @ Restoration Hardware
This one’s for the guys – whether a young concert-goer, a middle-aged camper, or an elderly cigar smoker (swap ages / activities at will) – this windproof lighter is genius for those breezy nights when you just need a little fire in your life. Keep it in mind for Father’s Day!

Set of 4 Bamboo Placemats – $8.99 @ Potiron
Deck out a friend’s patio table with these four plum-coloured placemats the next time you’re invited over for a BBQ. The colour goes with virtually any table setting, and the price is pretty much unbeatable.

PC Black Label Bacon Marmalade – $4.99 @ Loblaws
I’m kind of in love with PC’s new Black Label collection, including this seriously decadent Bacon Marmalade infused with balsamic vinegar, smoky onions, and subtle seasonings. It makes for an unexpected hostess gift at your next dinner fete, as a classy way to bring everyone’s favourite breakfast food to the party.
