Makes Scents
There is no shortage of bath, body, and fragrance products out there that you can claim as your ‘signature scent’. In fact a friend of mine pretty much swears by all things coconut (although strangely abhors the texture / taste of actual coconut). This makes life easy when shopping for someone that’s particularly partial to say, summer strawberry or crisp mint. But what about taking things a step further and combining all of your favourite smells into a layered, customized scent experience? That my friends, is the idea behind today’s post – Layers by Scentsy.
Some of you might already be familiar with Scentsy – known for their wickless candles and hand soaps, among other products – while some of you may be getting introduced to it for the first time. Layers is the newest (and full-blown) collection from Scentsy, which encapsulates items you’d use in the shower, on your body, and even in the laundry room. The idea is to pick your favourite fragrance (or multiple) and layer it on to infuse every part of your daily routine with a soothing smell.
Depending on how you look at it, the experience all starts in the shower, with your choice of one of six Shower Creams ($14) or Shower Gels ($11). The gels lather up with a nice, light foam, while the creams are infused with soybean oil for a truly moisturizing, scent-sual experience.
From there it’s time to moisturize, where again, you can snag any of the layers fragrances to either match or complement whatever you scrubbed up with in the shower. There are three different options to smooth out your skin, including ultra rich Body Butter ($14), Shea butter Body Lotion ($12), or for all-day softness, a purse-friendly Hand Cream ($7).
If you really want to bask in your favourite smell all day, the most fragrant step is spritzing or smoothing on your scent of choice with one of the two perfume options – strongly perfumed Solid ($21), which is available in a few ‘bonus’ scents not found throughout the collection, or a light mist from one of the Body Sprays ($10).
Now here’s where Scentsy really steps up and makes things extra interesting. You’ve showered, you’ve moisturized, you’ve sprayed – but what about your clothes? Yes, even they are infused with Layers. Throw a capful of one of the Washer Whiffs ($14) in your next load and suddenly your clothes have a lasting, fresh smell – in your favourite scent to boot. Really up the fragrance factor with a reusable Dryer Disk ($8), which fight static and infuse your clothes with a Layers scent for up to 15 loads.
Now that I’ve walked you through the Layers process, you’re probably curious as to what the six core scents of the Layers collection are, right? Not all products are available in all scents, but generally speaking you can indulge in Coconut Lemongrass, Enchanted Mist, Love Story, Luna, Quiver, and Sugar Cookie. Now where can you buy Scentsy? Body Sprays, Shower Gels and Shower Creams would be ideal in cool mint or Lunda. Those scents from SCENTSY would have to be Honey, Do!, White Tea & Cactus and Amalfi Coast!
I’d go with a shower gel and shea butter body lotion (because those two things are part of my daily routine already) and then I’d add on a body spray through out the day to keep the scent alive. As for my choice in scent I’d go with sugar cookie for all of the products!! Yumm 🙂
