Summer Nights

With the longer days, it can be tough to get a good night’s rest – who can willingly shut their eyes when it’s still all dusky outside? If you’re suffering from a lack of shuteye these summer nights, perhaps one of today’s feature gift ideas will help you get some good night’s rest.

GTS-1000 Glo To Sleep
Sound Oasis GTS-1000 Glo To Sleep Therapy Mask – $35.95 @ Fabove.ca
I’ve rigged up a pretty spectacular sleep mask myself, or so I thought, until I saw this nifty device. The GTS-1000 Sleep Therapy mask is a brilliant way to shut out all those distractions (light, sound, and otherwise) and create a peaceful atmosphere to drift away in. Made of foam and velcro, unlike a traditional sleep mask these beauties actually don’t smush your eyelids, but they’re still plenty comfortable. As for that ‘Glo’ feature, all you have to do is hold the mask up to a light source for 30 seconds before you hit the hay to trigger some subtle, meditative lights that will help you get the rest you need & deserve. Hook up your spouse with a pair so they can wake up bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and full of beauty rest.

Sacred Sleep Eucalyptus Sheets350-Thread Count Eucalyptus Sheets – $200+ @ Sacred Sleep
Maybe the thing that keeps you up at night is all those whirring, buzzing thoughts and worries that flit through your day. At the very least, you can rest easy with these ultra-comfortable, ultra-durable sustainably harvested eucalyptus-blend sheets. Before any aromatherapy buffs out there note that eucalyptus is actually an invigorating scent, rest assured, these sheets don’t actually smell like eucalyptus. The sheets are silky-soft to the touch, moisture-wicking for sweaty summer nights, hypoallergenic, and even antimicrobial – but the real advantage of eucalyptus comes from the manufacturing process. You’ll save nearly 3,000 gallons of water and 1.33 lbs of pesticides just by purchasing a set (over your regular cotton sheets), plus they’ll last twice as long over most other materials. Shipping is just $20, so consider picking up a set for a housewarming or wedding gift this summer.

I Can't Sleep Journal

I Can’t Sleep Journal – $15 @ Indigo
Despite my best efforts in this post, it may very well be that no amount of jumping sheep will help you get some shuteye. If that’s the case, this guided journal is filled with prompts and quotes to help refocus your brain from the inability to get some rest and hopefully tire it out as you ponder life’s great and not-so-great mysteries. A good choice for a kid that’s weary of sleepaway camp or even a friend that’s jumping time zones this summer and needs some sort of distraction when the jetlag hits.

Not Soap Radio To Sleep Gift SetNot Soap Radio ‘To Sleep Full of Sweet Dreams’ Collection – $16.99 each @ Value Valet
Lavender is well-regarded as a natural sleep aid, and as such, it’s one of the key ingredients in this line-up of body care products designed to unwind your mind and prepare it for a restful night. Along with that soothing scent, take a deep inhale of relaxing chamomile, another key ingredient. Lather up and soothe sore muscles and a weary brain, plus enjoy the benefits of ultra-moisturizing lotions and oils plus skin-shedding scrubs for a 360 degree peace-inducing bathtime experience. Buy them as a thank you gift when you’re staying as a houseguest (and undoubtedly keeping your hosts up later than usual) somewhere over July long.

S-100 White Noise MachineSound Oasis S-100 White Noise Machine – $59.95 @ Fabove.ca
Whether the noises outside your open window are chirping crickets or blaring sirens, a little bit of ‘white noise’ can be just the distracting cure to help you focus on relaxing your mind. For those not in the know, white noise is a natural, clinically proven sound to help both people and animals get a better night’s rest. Don’t expect to hear windchimes coming out of this discrete machine – instead, you’ll chose from 10 subtle sounds to help minimize distracting ambient noise and focus on a single, neutral tone instead. You can also plug the machine into your iPod or pillow speakers so the sound is up close and personal – be amazed at how much deeper and richer your sleep gets with this handy gadget! A must-have for your long-suffering mom thanks to Dad’s snoring or for a friend that’s recently moved to a new environment with unfamiliar, distracting outdoor noises.

Cool news for you all: if you’re wanting a bit of extra rest this summer, one lucky reader is going to score a S-100 White Noise Machine for themselves. Here’s how to enter:
