Pumpkin Patch Picks

As I say every year, Halloween is a weird time to think about buying gifts. That being said, there are always so many fun spooky gift ideas out there, it’s hard for me to resist writing about them. As I’ve noted in the past, there are a few reasons why you may want to indulge in a few of these presents. Maybe you’re attending a Halloween party and want to bring a hostess gift, or perhaps you want to thank some fellow parents for taking your tots out trick-or-treating. If you’re having your nieces / nephews / grandkids over, you may want to proffer a little non-candy treat. Finally, some people just love Halloween. Gifting them with something Hallow’s Eve-themed is no trick for their birthday or otherwise.

Lush Halloween Bath Treats

Lush Limited-Edition Pumkin Bubble Bar & Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb – $5.95 each
I love that Lush always pulls some frightfully festive goodies out of their hat each Halloween. Their bath accoutrements are a particularly ace choice because they work well as gifts for little ones that take baths but also for adults that need a bath for a break from the kids. This year offers up two limited-edition choices. Pumkin is all kinds of cute, with an earthy, outdoorsy scent based on their Figs & Leaves soap, while the frosty Lord of Misrule is easily one of the best-smelling things I’ve gotten from Lush in years (and that is saying something) – a mixture of spicy black pepper and patchouli. I actually popped it into the bath last night and the coolest thing is the pretty teal outside actually hides the gushing, raspberry hued inside, creating a monster blood effect in the tub! The latter will still be available throughout the holiday season so if you don’t score it now, add it to that holiday wish list!

Hip To It SKirtHip To It Skirt – $45.99 @ ModCloth
This is one of those gift ideas that certainly feels apropos for October gifting but certainly has legs (ha!!) beyond that. With a screen-printed skeleton, this slim-fitting classic black pencil skirt gives new meaning to the idea of being ‘bone thin’. Definitely for a gutsier girl with a slide flare for goth styles. But still, hella cool.

Halloween Decorating KitHalloween Decorating Kit – $18.99 @ Etsy
Disclaimer: shipping is quite a bit higher than I’d like on this ($13) but it’s so cute I couldn’t resist. This plastic container contains every decorating accoutrement you could ever possibly need to top spooky-themed cupcakes, cookies and more. A great choice for a mom friend that wants to get crafty in the kitchen with the kids, or for the festive Halloween baker fiend in your circle.

The Walking Dead Fall of the Governor Part 1The Walking Dead: The Fall of the Governor Part One – $28.99 (list)
Anyone that watched last season’s harrowing season of the smash hit AMC series should now be familiar with The Governor; who also happens to be one of the most formidable foes of the graphic novels as well. Over the last two years, author Robert Kirkman has teamed up with other writers to release a series of companion novels that document the subsequent rise and fall of the mega-villain. The latest entry is now available, giving you some interesting insight into what went down from the Governor’s perspective instead of Rick & Co’s. A hair-raising read this Halloween.

Black Rimming SugarBlack Rimming Sugar – $5.12 @ Crate & Barrel
A knockout hostess gift: concoct your favourite blood orange or pomegranate-hued cocktails and finish them off with a spooky touch thanks to this black-tinted sugar. Use is simple: just dip the glass in liquid and grind it into the steel tin for an instant festive feel. Consider pairing with a bottle of the host’s favourite mix or a cocktail recipe book.

Bonus OnHand entry up for grabs! Tell me in the comments below – which of these spooktacular picks gives you the chills (in the best way)?
