A Real Gem

One of my most favourite parts of being a blogger is having the opportunity to introduce you all to new brands, particularly those with a Canadian spin. With that in mind, I happily accepted the opportunity to serve as an (unpaid, as always) brand ambassador for Shop for Jayu; a fresh jewellery brand that produces well-crafted, eye-catching, on-trend pieces – all at a totally affordable price. Over the next while, I’m going to be shining the spotlight on this fab brand, particularly when they’ve got extra special new pieces rolling out. Case in point? Their new Spring Summer 14 collection debuted in Toronto at the end of January during an evening filled with fun, laughs and high style. I’ve rounded up a few of my favourite picks from their line below – plus two from Shop for Jayu’s own Sally Han, Founder of Shop for Jayu.

Jayu Elsa NecklaceElsa Necklace – $48
“I feel that this piece sums up the feel of this season’s collection. Feminine and edgy. I’m personally not into pearls, but this piece I’m proud to wear.” – Sally Han, Shop for Jayu Founder
Oftentimes when I’m writing about a new brand or product, I’ll rope in a friend to have a second look at the brand I’m writing about to see what pops for them and help guide the post. Shop for Jayu’s new Spring Summer 14 line was so overwhelmingly gorgeous I had a friend of mine – also a jewellery designer – take a peek, and both of us instantly gravitated toward this stunning (and amazingly priced!) necklace of smokey and clear stones, pearls, and a muted gold chain. It’s no wonder it was one of Sally’s top picks from the new Spring Summer 14 line as well!

Jayu Atsushi
Atsushi Earrings – $28 each
Again, these earrings definitely speak to Shop for Jayu‘s overall vibe for Spring 2014 – they have a delicateness to them that channels origami thanks to the ‘folded’ lines, yet they also have a certain sharp toughness as well. What’s great about these extended studs is they’re able to help dress up something casual like a moto jacket with jeans, but would also perfectly complement (not detract) from a chic cocktail dress. If you spot any far east influences in the Shop for Jayu line, that may be because the brand works closely with Korean artisans to handcraft each piece.

Jayu Skylar BraceletSkylar Bracelets – $39 each
Another awesome part about Shop for Jayu? They cover the gamut of jewellery. Whether you’re into necklaces, bracelets, earrings or rings – they’ve got you covered, often with coordinating pieces so you can mix and match to your heart’s content. I was drawn to these triangle contrast bracelets for a few reasons. One, they manage to be both neutral enough to work with any outfit yet stand out enough that you’ll definitely have folks grabbing your wrist and asking, “Where did you get that?” Two, they’re strung together with a flexible yet sturdy elastic wire, meaning no fears about it being too tight or too loose on your wrist – you’ll get a perfect fit. Finally, they can be paired (but don’t have to be) with many of the pieces in this season’s collection. Case in point? Check out the Greta necklace for a perfect pairing.

Jayu SageSage Necklace – $70 & Bracelet – $59
Shop for Jayu regularly takes a motif from one piece and applies it to different pieces. The result is you can pair the pieces for a totally coordinated look, or if you really love how a design looks on a necklace, can apply it to another piece to wear with other outfits, so you’re not repeating the same accessory. Or if you love a look but aren’t a necklace wearer – rest assured, it’s often replicated in some other form. Such is the case with these slightly art deco-inspired pieces. A bold splash of emerald green is set off by elegant beading and edgy metal chains – again making that perfect balance of hard meets soft.

Jayu Diamond RingDiamond Ring – $15 each
How cute are these as either a bridesmaid gift or a play on the idea of a ‘promise ring’ for your sweetheart? Shop for Jayu has a pretty extensive line of playful, simple rings for under $20, making them an ideal pick if you’re shopping for someone that loves to stack her gems or mix and match them from day-to-day. Like most pieces, these faux ‘diamonds’ come in two different finishes so whether you’re a silver or gold girl (or want ’em both) you can be sure to find something that’ll complement your existing accessories wardrobe. As an important aside, have I mentioned shipping is free in North America? So stock up ladies!

Jayu RoyalsRoyals Necklace – $125
The name says it all. You feel like a queen when wearing this design. High quality piece with an affordable price.” – Sally Han, Shop for Jayu Founder
Although the bulk of Shop for Jayu‘s pieces clock in at under $60, a handful of them tip over into slightly pricier territory – but for good reason. When serious bling and an extra bit of craftmanship is in play, trust me, it’s worth the price. This spectacular necklace is truly designed to make a statement – and yet the neutral colouring makes it easy to work into your wardrobe and complement everything from a basic white button-down shirt to your favourite little black dress. A worthy ‘ask’ for Valentine’s Day, am I right?

And with that, I hope you’ve enjoyed your first thorough glimpse of Shop for Jayu. This fabulous brand, as I mentioned, offers free North American shipping and is committed to producing on-trend, high quality pieces at a price you can afford whenever your accessories rack is in need of a little refreshing.
