Find of the Month: Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Jewelry

Do you ever look into your wardrobe and see it as transformative? I hope so, at least in some sense. When you put on a favourite piece of clothing, a sleek pair of shoes, or a fun piece of jewelry, my hope for you is that it transports you to a time in your life, a state of mind, or even a character in your head. When I look at designer Jacqueline Finn’s collection, Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Jewelry, I am instantly transported to the sea, which makes sense when you consider the designer is based in Nova Scotia. Her use of brightly coloured stones, earthy wrapped wire, and pretty titanium pendants has a chilled vibe yet eye-catching presence; one that has earned her a spot at exclusive style lounges for the 2013 DPA Golden Globes and AMC/DPA TIFF events. Today, I’ve handpicked a few of my favourite pieces, and I’m psyched to share more details about this lovely Canadian brand.

Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Aurora NecklaceAurora Necklace – $35
Inspired by the Northern Lights, Jacqueline uses raw hunks of titanium (usually just over 1″ long) for a striking flash of light right at your decolletage. Hung from a delicate silver chain (tailored to the length of your choice) this is one of those universal pieces that will set off just about any outfit – whether peeking out from under a button-down top or floating on top of a basic black dress. I actually really like this as a unique bridesmaid gift. Instead of going for the expected, this is a special piece of jewelry your girls will treasure well after the big day has passed.

Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Eternal Optimist BangleEternal Optimist Bangle – $120
So how does one get into jewelry making you ask? For Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Jewelry designer Jacqueline, it started with an intense love for fashion and style. While pursuing an MBA, she discovered a bead shop which soon led to some casual dabbling in jewelry making, including taking some classes in metalsmithing, the chic results of which you can see above. Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Jewelry features a range of textures and finishes, like this handmade sterling silver infinity bangle, featuring a unique hammered look and an adjustable band to sit snugly against any gal’s wrist. A fitting pick for your mom or best friend.

Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Turquoise BraceletBeaded Bliss Bracelet – $42
As I mentioned above, Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Jewelry has made some pretty high-profile appearances (and received invites to many others) including the TIFF and the Golden Globes (where her line was eyeballed by the likes of Mayim Bialik, pictured above). What’s even more incredible is Jacqueline was invited to one of these events at her very first showcase. Now if that doesn’t scream TALENT, I’m not sure what does. There is a really lovely understated beauty to all of the pieces in the line, such as this turquoise-enhanced bracelet that adds a little boho chic to your fave summer ensemble. Buy it for your sister as the weather warms up as a sweet birthday treat.

Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Bronze EarringsGrecian Goddess Bronze Earrings – $85
Apart from the versatility of each piece in the Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Jewelry line, I also love how versatile it feels in terms of appeal. I could just as easily see these sleek yet tough earrings on a teenage girl (like fan and Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas, above) as I could on a mature woman looking to dress up her day look. That versatility goes beyond age; whether your style is boho or preppy, fashionista or timeless, these are the types of items that will seamlessly fit into your wardrobe time and again, for years to come. It helps that they’re lovingly made by hand, to order, and by someone who’s name you actually know (read: not a faceless machine).

Jac-Out-Of-The-Box For The Love Of Color
For The Love of Color Ring Collection – $30 each
If you’re someone that loves to stack their fingers with gorgeous rings, then look no further. The Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Jewelry ‘For The Love of Color’ ring collection features over a dozen different brilliant stones set upon sturdy yet streamlined wire wrapping, giving you a perfect cocktail ring that doesn’t shout bling, but will definitely turn heads. What’s particularly cool is each ring is made to order, meaning you’ll get a one-of-a-kind stone and the perfect size for your finger. Plus, it’s more than a little neat to be able to tell your friends you’re wearing jewellery that’s also being donned by Twelve Years a Slave star Alfre Woodard, am I right?

As you’ve likely deduced by clicking on any of the links in this post, Jac-Out-Of-The-Box Jewelry is available online at Etsy, but it’s also making waves and starting to appear in shops as well (check out retailers here). And speaking of those pretty colour pop rings, Jacqueline has graciously agreed to treat five lucky readers to the ring of their choice. Interested in having a new bauble to flaunt? I love the pyrite ring! I like the idea of taking a material that is considered worthless (fools gold) and using it to make something beautiful.
