Rise Up
By nature of the very fact I move around a fair bit, I’m very much used to traveling – typically making anywhere from 4 to 6 trips per year via planes, trains or automobiles. While I’ve learned my fair share of packing tricks over the year, they all kind of pale in comparison to today’s kick ass gift idea for traveling fashionistas.
What do you see when you look at the bags above? A carry-on? A roller bag? A duffel? Um well, you’d kind of be wrong, actually. What may appear to be regular, plane-friendly luggage, in reality, these cleverly designed bags from Rise Gear feature a patent pending built-in shelving system. Suddenly, packing is a snap – and so is getting dressed when rushing to a business meeting or getting geared up to be first in line for a day at the theme park.
What do I mean by expandable shelving you ask? Basically all you have to do is hang it up from a standard closet bar, and presto – a stack of shelves appears, making it easy for you slip your clothes in and keep them organized, and from getting wrinkled. When you’re reading to pack things up again, no more bunching things up into a little ball and praying they’ll fit; you simply slip things back where you got ’em. Rise bags (like the ‘Jumper’, featured above, $79) are so cleverly designed, they’ve also incorporated a zippered pouch at the top for you to stash things like shoes or toiletries, while the bottom compartment is meant to be used as your ‘laundry hamper’ while on the road.
As noted above, Rise bags come in three different styles. The Jumper ($79), which I already highlighted in pink above, is designed to be a handy carry-on or a great choice for an overnight trip. For a slightly longer journey, you’ve got the Weekender ($99), a well-priced duffel bag that not only incorporates a built-in shelving unit, it’s also got extra pockets along the front and sides for keeping travel documents and other essentials at your fingertips.
Finally you’ve got the Roller bag ($159), which is similar in style to the Weekender duffel, but slightly larger and with its own built-in rolling frame, making it perfect for plane trips or longer journeys. That luggage frame is also an additional storage space, ideal for stashing a special outfit or a pair of shoes you want to keep separate. You may have also noticed all Rise Gear bags are black, but come with three color accent variations – pink, blue, or grey.

The Weekender-Blue Is My favorite one! I work 48 hour shifts as a residential support worker with the disabled. I stay in the home with them, and sleep there two nights a week! this is EXACTLY what I need! I carry around a huge duffle bag that is very uncomfortable, heavy and bulky!

The Roller Bag is my bag of choice. We all have a tendency to over pack which calculates into “weight”. The rollers are a lifesaver and a welcome addition to this well organized bag.

The Weekender is the newest product I didn’t know I needed. I’m always lugging bags around to the cottage and stuffing my clothes anywhere I can fit. This would be great not only for transport, but for a tidy place to store my belongings, too.

Definitely the Roller. Like probably a lot of people, the most inconvenient part of my travels is my luggage. Really impressed from the pictures of the versatility of the Roller, it would really help with packing, unpacking and lugging it around!
