Geisha Glow
What It Is: Meet Tatcha, a beauty brand that – despite being relatively new on the shelves – is actually inspired by an ancient, 200-year-old text called Miyakofuzoku Kewaiden, a handwritten beauty book used by Japanese geisha to obtain a radiant glow from the inside out. The three core ingredients identified as ideal skin treatments within this book were Green Tea, Okinawa Red Algae, and Japanese Rice Bran. Together, they provide you with all those ultra-nourishing antioxidants and nutrients your skin is craving to look beautiful, healthy and bright. Tatcha’s philosophy is to infuse these ingredients into their products and apply them using a simple routine established with their Core Collection – a lineup of cleansers and serums to give you ‘Pure, Polished, Radiant and Supple’ skin. From those initial four products, the brand has expanded to create a more diverse range of items for your face and hands, as well as tailored ‘Ritual Discovery Kits’ (packed in an adorable, Bento-inspired box) to help you choose the right products for your skin and lavish it with the attention it deserves.
I’ve actually been giving the brand a whirl over the last few weeks and I have to tell you – I live in a SUPER DRY climate (don’t we all?) and my skin is positively butter-soft. What’s amazing to me is I’m sure their products would work equally well if you’re suffering from oily, sensitive or combination skin. Add a Ritual Discovery Kit to your wish list this holiday season everyone – but be warned, they sell out very, very quickly so get ready to jump on it.
Who It’s For: Your best friend that’s adjusting to a new climate and all the havoc it’s wreaking on her skin. Your sister that’s obsessed with the geisha culture and will flip for this Ancient Japanese-inspired line. Your mom that’s always interested in the anti-aging products out there, which Tatcha is very much helpful in aiding.
What It Costs: The Ritual Discovery Kit pictured above features four tailored products based on your skin type (You can take a survey to determine which one is right for you here) retails for $59, while the individual products can range from $40 – $185+.
Where It’s At: Sephora carries Tatcha’s oil blotting beauty papers, but the best source for the brand is definitely their own website.
