Stocking Stuffers The Teens Will Love

Today I’m turning my focus to the teens – or to any younger ladies and lads – on your shopping list that still have a stocking hanging over your fireplace. In general it’s pretty easy to scout out teen-oriented stocking stuffers as many of the more affordably-priced items on the shelves seem to tie into the teen demographic perfectly. But if you’re still looking for some ideas…well then, look no further!

Mackintosh Toffee TinMACKINTOSH Toffee Tin – $7.19 @ Drugstores, Grocery Stores & Mass Market Retailers Nationwide
Treat your teens to a traditional sweet – MACK Toffee is actually made from a recipe that dates all the way back to 1890. With no additional colours and flavours, it uses rich, flavourful, classic ingredients like sugar and butter to give you a chewy, melty, caramel-y sweet candy snacking experience. This nifty tin is filled with dozens of pieces of individually wrapped toffee so they can stash a few in their backpacks or purses for school (and maybe even share with a friend). Once they’re done, the tin can easily be repurposed to stash notes, school supplies, or whatever else they want to hang onto. It’s also a cute idea for any teens that love to bake – MACK Toffee goes great in a range of holiday treats and beyond.

Bling Mini StylusBling Mini Stylus – $6.98 each @ Carly’s Regal Gifts
Any tech-connected teen will love this blinged out stylus. Whether they’re a texting or gaming fiend, chances are they’ll start to get that weird, tingly, slightly numb feeling in their fingers if they’re constantly swiping or screen mashing. This cute little sparkly stylus plugs into your headphone jack and comes with a stretch cord, so she can tap her way through her phone with none of the fingerprint-sizzling irritation of just using your hands. Available in eight festive colours, this works especially well if your teen’s gift from Santa happened to be a new smartphone!

Excuses & Lies For All OccasionsExcuses & Lies For All Occasions – $10.50 @ Indigo
If anyone is full of excuses and lies – it’s teens. At the very least, you can help them accomplish their sneaky M.O.’s by coming up with something more clever and comprehensible than the ‘dog ate my homework’. This clever book features 501 ways to pull one over on everyone from your boss to your best friend to your teachers to in theory, you, as a parent. However, here’s a savvy tip of my own: before handing over this pocket-sized book to your teen, give it a page through. You’ll be prepped for whatever they throw at you!

0595 Carton Front line up 2_26Garnier Color Stylers – $11 each @ Drugstores, Grocery Stores + Mass Market Retailers Nationwide
If your teenage years are meant to experiment, then at the very least, make it so their experiments aren’t quite so permanent. These amazingly intense temporary hair dyes can give your teen a wild pop of colour – whether it be dramatic red or bold blue or sweet pink, amongst two other shades – yet they wash out in just a few washes. It’s a perfect way to liven up your hair without blowing the bank (or destroying your hair). Garnier gets extra props from a dark-haired lass like myself for creating a product that will actually show up.

Grime Writer
Suck UK Grime Writer – $17.92 @ Amazon.ca
Finally, some graffiti and mischief you can get behind. This chunky marker pen can be filled with your choice of soap and some water to allow you to leave messages and graphics for anyone that’s failed to give their car some TLC in the form of a car wash this mushy winter season. It also works on muddy street signs or park benches, or really anywhere Canada’s melting snow has wreaked its havoc. Best of all – and don’t tell your teens this – you’ll actually be helping to clean things up with this alternative to tagging. As a heads up, Amazon is warning that you may not receive this product in time for Xmas – contact the seller to see what you can do to nab it, or save it for another gift-giving occasion down the road.

Schatzii Skybox SpeakerSchatzii Skybox Speaker – $21.95 @ Indigo, Target and Staples
Talk about compact. This little (yet mighty) speaker is so tiny, it can actually fit in the palm of your hand. Designed for complete portability, it works as a speaker for any Bluetooth-enabled device, including your smartphone, MP3 player or tablet, plus it also works as a speakerphone for when you want to have a hands-free chat away from your phone (which is also handy if you need to charge your phone but be in another part of the house). It’s great for that music-loving teen, and is the perfect size to tuck into a pocket, backpack, purse, locker, or gym bag for whenever you want to ‘shake it off’. As a heads up, this product is just hitting the shelves at the retailers above – call your local store before heading down to make sure they have it!

Pinch Provisions Minimergency KitsPinch Provisions Minimergency Kits – $19 each @ Sephora
One tiny pouch – 17 must-haves for any teen. This pint-sized pouch is small enough to be carried on-board a plane, but contains tons of life-saving essentials, from clear nail polish to seal a run in her stockings before a big job interview to a safety pin to keep your blouse closed before heading on a big date. Available in a ton of fun colours and styles, this handy pouch is something your teen will actually use – and you can keep on restocking as she does so.

Wasabi Candy CanesWasabi Candy Canes – $6 @ Gummi Boutique
For the sushi lover in your household, gift them these intriguing candy canes flavoured with the intense heat and spice of a dollop of wasabi. And if you want to pull an epic prank, simply take them out of the box and tell everyone they’re about to bite into a tasty apple or spearmint candy cane. Think I’m a horrible awful person for even bringing this product to your attention? Gummi Boutique carries a range of other sweet and savoury candy canes – from gravy and bacon to Sour Patch Kids and Jelly Belly. It’s a fun twist on a stocking stuffer standard.

RHA MA350RHA MA350 Headphones – $39.95 @ Shop.ca or Amazon.ca
I feel about headphones as I do about keys – there’s always value in having an extra pair or two kicking around. For one thing, not all headphones are meant for all activities. If your teen has just gotten a new pair of hip over-the-ear headphones a la Beats by Dre, chances are they aren’t going to throw those cans on when they’re hitting the treadmill or going for a jog in the park. A pair of sleek ear buds – that don’t require batteries – can be just the ticket, whether you’re simply angling to stuff them in your jean pockets between uses or looking for a pair to have in your gym bag. These well-reviewed buds are champions when it comes to durability, noise canceling, and providing a rich, full spectrum of sound. They’re particularly perfect if you’ve also bought your teen a new MP3 player or other device this season – just a nice way to round out an already fabulous gift.

Urban Outfitters Agate NightlightsAgate Nightlights – $18 each @ Urban Outfitters
I mean yes, I know teens don’t NEED a nightlight. But that doesn’t mean they’ll turn one of these pretty, energy-enhancing natural stone lights away. Whether they plug it into their bedroom wall for a soft glow or pop it into a bathroom outlet so they don’t have to get blinded during a midnight bathroom break, these cool nightlights are a pretty nifty, semi-one-of-a-kind find. After all, the agate stone – available in purple, blue, yellow and pink – used to make these lights are all uniquely cut and harvested, functioning as a mini piece of light-up art in your home.

That’s a wrap! Hopefully one – or some – of these ten stocking stuffers for teens will inspire you this holiday season. I’m also giving away a fun prize package filled with cool stocking stuffer ideas for the teens in your household, with a value of over $100. If you win, you’ll score:

– A Bling Mini Stylus
– 3x Garnier Color Stylers
– A Schatzii Skybox Speaker
– A pair of RHA MA350 Headphones
