Trend Watch: Fit to be Tied
About a month ago, I spotted a unique detailing on one of the items featured here…only to realize that perhaps it wasn’t so unique, but a current trend – lace up tops and dresses are making a huge comeback for fall fashion, imparting a sort of retro 70s ideal. I’ve highlighted a few different interpretations of this look below, happy shopping (and gifting!)
From L to R
DESIGN LAB LORD & TAYLOR Ribbed Lace-Up Dress – $50 @ Hudson’s Bay: Adorable as a mini-dress or worn over leggings, this fall-perfect dress feels extra retro thanks to the ribbed fabric and colour palette of mustard, maroon or navy.
Ellie High Neck Lace Up Detail Sweat Top – $45 @ Boohoo: Maybe it’s the jersey sweatshirt material or maybe it’s the football-esque style of the laces, either way this cropped top feels like a sporty iteration of this trend.
Marcia Lace-Up Top – $205 @ BCBG: With the boldest laces of them all, this cool crepe top comes in an array of bold colors and offers a hint of skin.
Only Lace-Up Ribbed Jersey Top – $37 @ ASOS: Simple, crisp, and white, this feminine top is a cool way to soften up leather leggings or torn jeans, but also looks lovely tucked into a patterned skirt.
Laces to Go, People to See Sweater – $44 USD @ ModCloth: This cozy sweater has a bit of a nautical vibe to it, perhaps because of the navy hue. The over-long ties mean you can loosen things up a bit!
Womens Lace-Up Sweater – $44 @ Abercrombie & Fitch: The preppiest interpretation of this trend has to be this lightweight stretch pullover from A&F. While I’ve highlighted a distinctive pumpkin hue here, it also comes in military green, navy and grey (do a search for ‘lace up’ and you’ll see them all).
BONUS ENTRY into my Coal & Canary giveaway! Tell me in the comments below – which of these lace-up styles do you covet the most (if any)?
