Sweet Thing
What It Is: Montreal-based brewery 1769 Distillery has plenty of spirits to keep you in high spirits – but what caught my eye was this perfect-for-gifting product that’s a little out of the ordinary. They take pure maple syrup and then age it in bourbon barrels from Kentucky. As it ages – like a fine wine – it absorbs the flavours of the barrel, giving this breakfast sweetener a deeper flavour profile, with notes of vanilla, caramel, mellowed wood, and yes, bourbon. Can you think of a better way to start the day?
Who It’s For: Your friend, as a fab housewarming gift. The hosts, as a perfect houseguest gift. Your in-laws, as a great anniversary twist on the ol’ bottle of wine.
What It Costs: In my searches, prices varied – but in general you can expect to pay between $31.99 – $38
