Level Up: Monopoly Gets the Nintendo Treatment

Monopoly Nintendo

What It Is: A new iteration of Monopoly festooned with a Nintendo theme – one that extends well beyond what you’d expect. The most obvious changes of course, are gold coins have replaced Monopoly money, and you can play as one of four Nintendo superstars; Mario, Donkey Kong, Princess Peach or Yoshi. The twists however, come in how you win the game – by getting the highest score, period. How to do it? Well, each of the main characters has a special power, which is quite useful considering part of the game is all about beating bosses to score points. Also neat? You can add ‘Nintendo Power Packs’ for $4.99 a pop, containing additional characters like Luigi, Boo, and Wario, all of whom carry their own special abilities.

With a bevy of new properties to buy up, and unique board features (including a power-up die!), this fun take on the world’s best-known board game really does take things to the next level, for gamers of both the board and video variety.

Who It’s For: Your Nintendo-loving kids. Your board game-loving spouse. Your family night-enjoying sibling.

What It Costs: $39.99

Where It’s At: EB Games online, as well as local toy retailers.
