If You Trees: Meet the Most Eco-Friendly Subscription Service Ever

What It Is: Looking for a gift idea for the friend who has everything and quite seriously wants nothing? How about a positive impact on the environment? Every 48 hours, our planet loses a forest the size of New York City. Calgary-based startup TreeEra is looking to make replanting a sustainable and affordable part of Canadian consciousness, as they seek to plant 1 billion trees in partnership with Brinkman & Associates. Since launching earlier this year, they’re already well on their way, having planted 12,000 trees that will offset nearly one ton of Carbon each, providing Oxygen for 48,000 people. Want to get involved? There’s two ways to access TreeEra. The first is through a monthly subscription model – for a cost comparable to a drop-in fitness class or your Netflix subscription, they’ll plant 100 trees a year in your name (there’s also a more heavy-duty option for 200 trees in your name). The other option is the brand’s new 5-Tree Package, which is what you see above. If you buy this patch, they’ll plant five trees – and you can pick it up at a bunch of retailers across Canada (and hopefully soon, the U.S.) Talk about making a green statement!

Who It’s For: Your eco-minded friend. Your loved one that has everything. Your new parent friend that’s concerned about the planet for the next gen.

What It Costs: The 100 / trees a year subscription is $12 / month, or $1.44 a tree. $20 / month ($1.20 / tree) will get you 200 trees in your name. The 5-Tree Package patches retail for $15 each.

Where It’s At: You can subscribe to TreeEra online here. Their patches are available at Meraki Supply Co, Steeling Home, Out There, Branch Market and Studio, Liz and Lottie, and Outside the Shape.
