When I talked about Lady Gaga’s debut perfume last month, I noted that perhaps never before had a perfume drummed up so much fanfare. That same could be said of haute couture design house Balenciaga’s spokeswoman for their fresh new Florabotanica fragrance, Kristen Stewart. The reason? This is actually Twilight megastar K Stew’s first endorsement. And in the wake of a couple of buzz worthy months surrounding her temporarily suspended relationship with dreamy costar Robert Pattinson, the iron couldn’t be hotter for the starlet’s high fashion debut to strike.
If you’re a fan of Kristen, you’ll be pleased to know she’s launching her fragrance partnership with a bang, with a live interview that will be broadcast on the Balenciaga website and Facebook page on October 18th, at 3 PM EST. If you’ve always wanted to ask Kristen a question – particularly on her role as a fashion muse or on her first ever brand endorsement – now’s also your chance. Balenciaga has opened up a free registration area to submit questions, 20 of which will actually be selected and asked. There’s no limit to how many questions you ask, and everyone who’s question is selected will be sent a free bottle of Florabotanica.
Now about that fragrance. Brand fanfare aside, the whole point of a blogger like me talking about a fragrance is because I think it’s a swell gift idea. And luckily for you, I do. The most impressive thing about the scent is it manages to be a youthful floral – which trust me, is way harder than it sounds. Many floral perfumes have a sort of fusty, Grandma’s curtains smell, but as the name would imply, the carnations and roses that dominate the fragrance are cleanly offset by botanical notes of crisp mint and woodsy vetiver. And the bottle? Sheer fashionista splendour – the chic white and black stripes extends into the bottle for a test tube-inspired look, while the sheer coloured glass accent panels harken back to the vintage botanical print on the box.
Feeling it? Florabotanica has just hit the shelves this month, so go and take a big deep inhale and promptly add it to your holiday wish lists. Prices start at $63 for the 30 mL Eau de Parfum Spray (available exclusively at Shopper’s Drug Mart) and climb up to $115 (at The Bay, Holt Renfrew, Oglivy, Murale, Shoppers Drugt Mart, Sephora) depending on the size you pick. Fun extras like body lotions & shower gels are also available at select locations.
