Cookie Monster

Tis the season for baked goods and sugary snacks, am I right? It also means it’s high time to gift bakers with goodies to deck out their kitchen – after all, you’ll reap the rewards in the form of sweet treats come Christmastime. On that premise, I’ve rounded up five cookie-themed gift ideas to get your tummy rumbling and your wallets opening.

Homemade Cookie Stamp – $16.50 @ Indigo
Most bakers take pride in their homemade goodies – so let them shout it from the rooftops with this fun wooden cookie stamp. Mark your gingersnaps and sugar cookies alike by simply pressing the stamp into the dough, or if you’re putting together gift boxes of treats, make a set of specialty stamped cookies and include one in every box. You can even use frosting to fill in the star shapes or outline the seal for an extra festive touch.

Carol’s Daughter Almond Cookie Collection – $13 – $21 @ Sephora
Well I mean…not everyone can (or wants to) bake. But that doesn’t mean they don’t love the sweet smell of rising cookies – which is exactly what this trio of yummy body care products channel. Having been raised on delicate almond cookies from my local bakery, I can tell you that scrubbing and moisturizing and layering these three items is pretty much the equivalent of being enveloped in cookie dough all day. Delicious, and an ace gift for your mother-in-law this holiday season.

The Cookie Dough Lover’s Cookbook – $19.95 (list)
I love love love this book as a deconstructed take on baking. Specifically, if you love the taste of chewy-gooey cookie dough, feast your eyes and mouth on this precious little book, filled with dozens and dozens of baking recipes that incorporate cookie dough – whether literally, or simply to reconstruct the same taste sensation. A gal after my own heart, most of author Lindsay Landis’ recipes actually use an egg-free dough, meaning it’s quite adaptable for vegan or vegetarian types, or those that simply can’t eat eggs. How yummy are we talking here? Well how about a Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Layer Cake? Old-Fashioned Cookie Dough Ice Cream Sandwiches? Cookie Dough Dessert Pizza? Sugar Cookie Dough Lollipops? Cookie Dough-Stuffed Cinnamon Rolls? Yeah…I could go on and on. Makes a sweet gift idea for your best friend that loves to bake up a storm in the kitchen…and has a solid sweet tooth to boot.

Norpro Non-Stick Cakesicle Pan – $29.99 @ Best Buy (online only – I know, I was surprised too!)
Consider these the granddaddy of cake pops. Simply take your favourite brownie, cookie, or cake recipe and place it in this novelty baking pan with a popsicle stick (24 are included) and presto, twenty minutes later you’ve got imminently munchable, festive party treats. Use it as an activity to keep the kiddies occupied with decorating and eating at your holiday open house, or whip up some treats yourself and wrap them in cellophane with a ribbon as small holiday tokens for your coworkers. It’ll also go over amazingly well with your parent friends that love to get their kids involved in the kitchen, or for your sibling that always outshines everyone with their baking skills.

Wilton Cookie Boxes – $6.50 for 3 @ Golda’s Kitchen
If your spouse or sibling is the type to bake instead of buy for the holidays, then help them up the polish and pretty factor with these festive gift boxes from Wilton. Available in two designs, these cheery sets also include stickers so you can customize the boxes for each giftee. The clear window on top ups the bakery presentation, and will make your holiday treats appear incredibly luxe. If you’ve got the boxes in-hand, consider gifting a package to your child’s teacher, your boss, or even the hostess of your year-end book club meeting.

Hopefully today’s gift ideas gave you some holiday season inspiration – particularly in the kitchen. If your tummy is rumbling a touch, you may be in luck. I’m giving away a copy of The Cookie Dough Lovers Cookbook to one lucky reader! Here’s how to enter:
