Find of the Month: Sultra

Ladies and their hair. When we’re not out getting it snipped and dyed, we’re busy styling it, nourishing it, sudsing it, brushing it – and all manner of taking care of something that is essentially ‘dead’. Yet despite that grim reality, I have to admit, I always admire people with a well-groomed head of hair. The good news is, these days it’s easier than ever to tousle your tresses just so and get a salon-quality look right at home. Case in point? Sultra’s line-up of professional styling tools, all designed to give you sexy, chic locks in no time. Today I’m featuring five of my favourite gadgets from their collection, all of which would make perfect gifts for any gal in your family – whether as a birthday, anniversary, or Christmas gift. Also fun? Why not splash out on your bridesmaids and hook each of them up with a styling tool as a sincere thank you they’ll flip over. For the record, basically ALL of Sultra’s items are available at Sephora – consider them a go-to source for this awesome yet accessible luxury brand! Best of all, since every Sultra purchase is over Sephora’s $75 free shipping minimum, you can score your favourite product no matter where you live.

Sultra The Seductress
The Seductress – $245

This is a must-have tool for all you traveling hair mavens out there. It may look like your basic straightener, but it’s actually a 3-in-1 device that can create beachy waves, classic curls, or stick straight locks depending on what style you’re going for. Sultra’s signature Japanese Kyocera Ceramic Heater Technology provides even heating, plus the fastest heat recovery on the market, meaning you don’t have to stand there tapping your foot as you wait for the tool to reheat as you use it. Finally three heat settings depending your hair thickness means you won’t expose it to more heat damage than necessary!

Sultra The Bombshell Curling Irons
The Bombshell Rod Curling Irons – $150 Each

Sultra is possibly best known for their line-up of Bombshell curling irons, including these three classic ‘Rod’ styles available in sizes from ¾” to 1.5”. Why the different sizes you ask? Even just a quarter of an inch can take your locks from tight spiral curls to loose, dramatic Nashville hair. If you’re shopping for a missus in your life and aren’t sure what size to go for, the 1” barrel is typically the industry standard. You can use it to create classic corkscrews, or you can run your fingers through it for a pretty, undone look. Interestingly all of Sultra’s Bombshell irons don’t feature a ‘clip’ to lock your hair in place, making it a snap to style without that funky crease that sometimes comes from using traditional curlers.

Sultra The Temptress
The Temptress – $230
(for the Mind Blowing Gift Set, including a straightener!)
Getting high fashion hair starts with how you dry it; so much so, a lot of women opt for a sleek & shiny blowout as opposed to using other styling tools to whip their locks into shape. In fact, there are actually salons dedicated to the art of the perfect blowout. The Temptress power dryer features a high-powered ceramic heater and an ionic generator to minimize static and frizz and cut down on drying time. It also includes two handy nozzles and multiple heat settings to manage just about any woman’s mane. If you’re unsure as to whether she’s a big hair product user, a dryer, at least, is always a safe bet.

Sultra Cone Reverse Cone Oval Bombshell Curling Irons
The Bombshell Cone, Reverse Cone & Oval Curling Irons – $150 each

While Sultra has three classic rod irons in their line-up, they’re also playing around with a variety of uniquely designed clipless irons, each of which has a unique shape that gives a slightly different effect. The Bombshell Cone creates loose waves at the top and tight ringlets at the bottom, for a more sporadic, twisted look. As expected, The Bombshell Reverse Cone produces a crinkly texture at the roots before blossoming into loose waves for a naturally bouncy hair style. The Bombshell Oval is perfect for pumping up the volume at your scalp and creating fine, zig zag curls that feel and look natural-yet-defined. For the tress tamer that has everything, pick up one of these fun irons to expand her lineup of tools and give her a fresh new look.

Sultra The Diva Pressing Iron
The Diva Pressing Iron – $245

There’s an old adage about how girls with straight hair long for curls and girls with curls long for straight locks. It seems most of my friends with either really thick, voluminous hair or really puffy, curly hair have done their best to wrangle their locks into submission with a straightening iron. If you’re one of those ladies that really just loves the straight and sleek look, Sultra has taken things a step further with their intense pressing iron, designed specifically for unruly manes. Not only does it include a unique ThermaGuide Plate System, the combination of the iron’s superpowers plus Sultra’s Pressing Crème will nourish, protect, and hold your style in place, even when the humidity starts creeping in. It also works on kinky hair typically possessed by women of colour – so skip the harsh relaxants and get flexible with your style!

Some exciting news for you all. This month I’m giving away a classic Bombshell 1” Straightener to a lucky reader! Here’s how to enter:

1) Leave a comment by July 31st with the styling tool featured in this post that you’d most love to try!
