Find of the Month: Perkse

There is nothing I love more when writing this blog than promoting Canadian businesses that are doing things right – and that is totally the case with this month’s amazing, awesome brand, Perkse. Although they’re relatively new on the scene – having just launched this past spring – Perkse is already making a splash and earning itself a dedicated fan base for its commitment to quality. Dive in and learn more below!

Perkse CoffeeLet’s start off with that Perkse is – they’re an online-only coffee and tea retailer that is committed to delivering you a good drink. In fact, Perkse was founded after owner Eugene had a particularly bad cup of coffee and wanted to create a better brewing experience for everyone.

Perkse Packaging

For the java lovers out there, Perkse hand roasts their beans in small batches on a 5lb diedrich to ensure top quality. They also serve up their coffee to suit your needs – from whole beans to three different types of grinds to suit your coffee maker. Costs are pretty reasonable too – a cute lil’ carton of beans will set you back $5-$7 for 100g.

Perkse Coffee Brewing GearOf course, good coffee is about more than just the beans – it’s about how you brew it. That’s why Perkse also carries a great lineup of brew gear, from kettles and pour over stands to serving mugs and more. Prices are totally reasonable for coffee aficionados (from $20 for a pour over dripper) and will lead to a supreme brewing experience.

Perkse TeaNot a coffee drinker? Never fear – Perkse is also HUGE on the tea front, and again, they’re committed to doing things right. When it comes to tea, that means skipping the artificial flavouring other brands are known for using, as well as dried dense fruit and other additives to lower the tea’s density. That means less nutritional benefits for you, when tea is in fact a supremely useful diuretic.

Perkse Rooibos TeaSo what is Perkse doing differently? For one, there aren’t any artificial flavours. The teas are hand blended and sourced in small batches to ensure optimal freshness. You’ll be amazed at the fullness of their teas with every sip and the range of flavours across their rooibos, herbal, green, black, white, and oolong profiles. From classics like Egyptian Camomile to zippy flavours like Raspberry Razz and Flowered Blackberry Rooibos (above), you’ll definitely find some favourites in the bunch. They also tell you cool things like the origin of the tea leaves, the altitude they were harvested at, and the health benefits of each blend. Not in the mood for something hot this summer? You can also brew a strong pot of tea and then ice it for a refreshing drink.

Perkse Tea SaleThe prices are also worth smiling about – $3-$6 for most blends for 21g (about seven servings). If you’re new to Perkse then you’ll want to try out their current ‘Tea Sale’ promotion. Nab 6 different teas (for about 35 servings) and 20 tea bags for a serious bargain price of just $24. It’s a fabulous and affordable gift for the tea lover in your life, and also makes a great hostess or houseguest present.

Perkse Tea BagsYou can also buy Perkse’s brew gear for your tea, like their signature tea filters for those looking to have a cup of their fave tea no matter where they are ($4 for 20 filters). It’s a great way to top up whatever teas you’re spoiling someone with!

Perkse Pineapple teaReady to get drinking with Perkse? I’m giving away five tea gift sets, consisting of six tea varieties and twenty tea filters so you can get a great taste of what Perkse has to offer. Here’s how to enter:
