Blanket Statement

Glitch Textiles

What It Is: If memory serves, I first heard of Glitch Textiles via Fast Company, one of my favourite mags to get a pulse on disrupters and innovators in business and design. New York-based creator Phillip Stearns had started an art project of sorts, by rewiring cameras so they could no longer take a clear picture, and posting his beautifully distorted images to a Tumblr. Eventually it led him to creating a brand that actually produces his digital art into woven textiles, in the form of gorgeous scarves and blankets (as well as being tapped to supply fabric to designers like DIOR). Now you can buy the throws and scarves on the Glitch Textiles website – which does happily ship to Canada – for some truly one-of-a-kind pieces that are art, fashion, and keepsake all in one.

I was lucky enough to be sent an H1N1 blanket (made in the USA!) and told the designer that it was amongst the nicest items I’d ever received for review on my blog – the weave is impeccable, the colours and pattern are striking, and it really is a stunning work of art I’m so proud to show off when people stop by my house!

Who It’s For: The newlyweds, as an amazing keepsake for their new lives together. Your son or daughter that bought their first home, as a forever housewarming gift. Your spouse, as a fun pick for a two-year ‘Cotton anniversary’ gift (the cotton quilts are the ones made in the US).

What It Costs: $275 USD for a cotton blanket. $75 USD for a scarf.

Where It’s At: Exclusively at the Glitch Textiles online shop.

BONUS!! Glitch Textiles has kindly offered free shipping for Canadians all the way from now until May 1st, 2016! Just enter CANGIFTSHIP at checkout to nab this amazing offer.

Speaking of all things cuddly and designer-friendly, did you see my post on Bedface yesterday? Get an extra entry into that draw and tell me in the comments below – what’s your favourite blanket or scarf on the Glitch Textiles site?
