Where It Counts

Beauty Counter Available in Canada

What It Is: I’ve written no shortage of posts on this blog about the importance of understanding what’s in your beauty products. Apparently the folks at Beautycounter feel the same way that I do. Some of their stats are pretty shocking – only 10% of the 10,000+ chemicals commonly found in beauty products have safety data associated with them, and many of them are known hormone disruptors or have ties to cancer and fertility issues. The team at Beautycounter is following the lead (actually, exceeding it) of our European compatriots, by banning 1,500 ingredients that have potentially harmful impacts on our bodies.

The result? A collection of clean body and skincare products that really seriously works. I’ve been lucky enough to try some of their products over the last couple of weeks, and I have to say that my skin feels buttery soft and just looks smooth and radiant – like a well-rested girl. It helps that they go on super smooth and are honestly indistinguishable from any other skincare product I’ve used – except where it counts (the ingredients!) Beautycounter has *just* launched in Canada to the delight of many, so I encourage you to give ’em a shot!

Who It’s For: Your daughter, to encourage good clean skincare habits from the get go. Your spouse, who is vowing to toss her chemical-laden products. Your sister, as a birthday gift to refresh her skincare routine.

What It Costs: Another amazing part of Beautycounter is the prices – totally comparable to a mid-range ‘regular’ beauty brand. Most items are under $50.

Where It’s At: You can browse the Beautycounter website to view their entire line, or get hooked up with one of their Consultants for a personalized one-on-one approach to your skincare.
