Creature Comforts

It’s nearing the end of summer, and while you may have enjoyed a few lazy hazy days, you’ve also probably gotten off the couch a whole lot more to enjoy the great outdoors (and be inspired by those Olympians). As we head into the season of snuggles and comfort (I know you’ve been eyeing that sweater in your closet), I thought it’d be cool to do a gift guide on gift ideas designed to up the comfy cozy level in your life. Onwards!

Vajamas

Vajamas – From $85 @ Betabrand
Looking for the world’s coziest pants to keep those wintery blues at bay? You’ll actually dig slipping into these ridiculously soft sweatpants, made from Betabrands proprietary ‘vagisoft’ material. I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt that the name is inspired by them being velvety soft (velvet + pajamas), but you can draw your own conclusions. These cozy, unisex pants come in three colours, pull on with ease, and make an ideal gift for anyone who lists ‘napping’ as a favourite pasttime.

Genuine Health Pain Relief ProductsFast Joint Care+ – $41.99, Fast Arthritis Pain Relief+ – $51.99, Fast Pain Relief+ – $89.99 @ Drugstores, Health and Specialty Stores Across Canada
1 in 10 Canadians suffer from pain – the type of pain that cripples them from being able to live life to the fullest. Genuine Health has the solution with an array of all natural solutions to relieve pain, decrease inflammation and help nourish and repair damaged joint tissue. How you take the pills depends on what you’re grappling with – the arthritis or joint care products, for example, should be taken daily and should deliver results in as a few as five days, whereas the regular pain relief is ideal for when you need pain relief on the double. My favourite feature? All of the products are made with the brand’s signature Biovaflex® natural eggshell membrane, instead of gelatin, making this a vegetarian-friendly form of natural pain relief. Now *that’s* a relief.

Buddha Bowl

Buddha Bowl – $34 @ Flavour Design Studio
A bowl of soup is the ultimate way to get (and stay) comfortable – and this bowl will make lapping it up that much easier. Designed to be held in the palm of your hand, similar to an oversized teacup, this ceramic bowl is ideal for anything hot or cold (honestly, a bowl of hot soup is not much more comfortable on the lap than a bowl of ice cream). Now you can kick back, relax, and binge on whatever Netflix show you’re addicted to – soup in hand!

La Vie En Rose Sleekback Bra

Sleekback Bra – $49.95 @ La Vie En Rose
Hallelujah – bra makers are more and more recognizing that not all ladies are built the same way. Case in point? La Vie En Rose’s new Sleekback Bra, which offers a bevy of options to not only help you look your best – but feel it too! The wider panels on the back eliminate any sign of ‘back rolls’, while adjustable straps at the front, back and closure give you more flexibility than ever before. With lightly lined cups, the flexible fabric molds to your body, while wider than average straps ensure the girls are hoisted up where they belong. Gift it to your girlfriend and she’ll have a new fave bra in no time – especially when it comes in an array of cute and classic colours.

Aveda Comforting Tea

Aveda Comforting Tea – From $25
While every cup of tea I drink is like a warm hug from the inside, I have to admit, Aveda’s Comforting tea takes things to another level. 100% organic and decaffeinated, this tea from the world famous spa brand is designed with soothing in mind. Featuring mint and licorice root, it’s got just enough zing and flavour to keep you interested, and plenty of soothing vibes with every sip. Available in a looseleaf bottle or prepackaged tea bags – perfect for your constantly frazzled friend or coworker.

handwarmer-toast-wireless-handwarmers-2_grande

Toast Wireless Handwarmers – $44.99 USD @ Smoko
When I get in the zone say, writing my blog, my hands have the tendency to turn icy cold after awhile, prompting shrieks from my husband. One way to combat keyboard freeze? These nifty, snuggly hand warmers which charge up via USB (they also have a wired version if the wireless one above doesn’t suit). Designed to look like slices of toast, they’ll indeed keep your hands nice and toasty – just strap on the gloves and let the embedded heaters do the work. If you suffer from cold feet of the non-emotional variety instead, they also sell USB-powered slippers and pillows in fun designs like yetis and unicorns!
