Seed-sons Greetings

Earlier this week I opened my trusty trove of Christmas cards…only to realize I was down to ELEVEN. That’s not even enough to send warm holiday wishes out to my family, let alone my friends and the boyfriend’s fam. After a mini panic attack, I decided to check out what one of my most favourite Canadian stationery companies had going on…and I was, as always, giddy with excitement with what I found.

I’m talking about Botanical Paperworks – makers of plantable paper products. Unfamiliar? Here’s the scoop: all of their gear – from invitations to greeting cards to journals – is actually made from post-consumer materials. That means no trees were harmed in the delivery of your seasons greetings. When the recipient of your card is done with the season – and logically your card – all they have to do is plop it in a pot and it’ll bloom into flowers, herbs, or vegetables depending on what your particular paper piece is embedded with.

For me, this is an *amazing* revelation. I’ve always felt weird / guilty giving people cards when I’m relatively eco-conscious in so many areas of my life. I actually have an end use for Christmas cards (I repurpose them into gift boxes), but to give my card recipients a gift within their card? That’s just awesome.

Now, if you’re already set on the Xmas card front, don’t think I don’t have *more* gift-giving ideas for you. As mentioned, Botanical Paperworks has a sweet line-up of products beyond cards. Personally I’m loving the plantable eco calendar that comes in its own silver tin – at $20 it’s an awesome Secret Santa or hostess gift, or even something for your coworkers or in-laws.

On the stocking stuffer front, there’s a ton of cute pocket notepads all at $4.50 a piece, or spend a little more and get a set of three notebooks for just $9.95. And yes ALL of this stuff is plantable. So after you’ve spent months jotting down to-do lists and writing love notes, you can turn it into something pretty. And finally, a piece of lovely and exciting news that sort of explains why I work hard at making this blog Canadian-focused. Namely, when you shop at Canadian stores – even online ones – you’re bound to find efficiencies in shipping times and costs. Believe it or not you can still stock up on gifts and have guaranteed delivery for Christmas all the way till December 14th. And right now, you can actually score free shipping as well when you spend $49 or more.

Consider this my call for you to run out (or click over) and grab some awesome Christmas cards and paper products for your holiday gift-giving this year. To give one lucky reader a head start, I’m giving away a package of goodies from Botanical Paperworks valued at $70 including everything you see in the picture above AND your choice of one of the packs of plantable Christmas cards (personally I adore the two-fer set featuring the Peace Dove & Christmas Tree). Here’s how you enter:

1) Leave a comment below before December 13th and tell me which Christmas card collection you’d choose if you were the lucky winner (hint: check their online store). Be sure to use a valid email address when posting so I can contact you if you win!

2) Entries are limited to one per person per email address (or more if you score bonus entries). A random draw will be conducted on or around December 13th to select the winner, who will have 48 hours to respond before another winner is chosen in their place.

3) Entries are limited to Residents of Canada that have reached the age of majority in their province / state. Quebec is not eligible to participate in this promotion.

4) Bonus Entry Time: You’ve got two shots to earn bonus entries here. One, if you like Botanical Paperworks on Facebook. Two, if you follow Botanical Paperworks on Twitter. Tell me which ones you do in the comments and you’ll earn bonus entries – although as always, keep in mind honesty IS the best policy cause I do follow up to see if you actually did these things 🙂

If you’re looking for full rules & regs, you can always reach me at canadiangiftguide -at- gmail – dot- com. Seasons greetings!

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED – THANKS FOR ENTERING!
